Jelly Roll shocked viewers by taking several personal shots at President Donald Trump while guest-hosting “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The country star referenced a recent report about concerns surrounding Trump’s weight before comparing the president’s body to his own dramatic transformation. However, Jelly Roll’s jokes about Trump’s weight and penis quickly sparked backlash on social media, with some critics questioning how the monologue could affect the singer’s brand.

Jelly Roll was filling in for Jimmy Kimmel on Monday when he brought up a Washington Post report examining Trump’s weight. The White House released a medical report in May showing that the president weighed 238 pounds, an increase of 14 pounds from his previous physical.

Jelly Roll used the report to offer Trump some advice based on his own experience losing a substantial amount of weight. “From one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important. And trust me, you’ll be happy to see your p-nis again,” he told the president.

The Grammy-winning artist then turned the joke back on himself, explaining that his 300-pound weight loss meant he had shed the equivalent of an entire Donald Trump.

Jelly Roll has been candid about his weight-loss journey and previously revealed that he once weighed approximately 550 pounds.

During the monologue, Jelly Roll acknowledged that mocking someone over their weight could be considered unfair. The show then played a montage of Trump making comments about other people’s appearances throughout the years.

The footage included several clips of the president discussing former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and repeatedly insisting that Christie was “not a fat pig.” Jelly Roll used the montage to suggest that Trump had opened himself up to similar jokes by publicly criticizing other people’s bodies.

The singer then continued discussing his own physical transformation and claimed that seeing his penis again after losing weight had left him pleasantly surprised. He jokingly compared its appearance to a “little Labubu doll.”

Although the studio audience appeared entertained by the risqué monologue, some viewers online were far less amused.

Several X users criticized Jelly Roll for making such personal comments about the president on national television. “Ah the left obsessing over Trumps junk again. I always found that quite odd; they apparently love to imagine him naked,” one person wrote.

Another user questioned the possible effect of the routine on the musician’s public image. “Annnnddddddd who in his team thought this would be good for his brand?” they asked.

A third critic described the joke as unnecessarily personal, writing, “That’s a very pathetic thing to say.” “Jelly roll is a degenerate,” another person declared.

One particularly angry viewer accused the “Save Me” singer of abandoning his usual image to win approval from Hollywood. “Jelly Roll trading classy music for cheap, vulgar insults just to chase approval from the Hollywood mob,” they wrote. “Talk about selling out completely. Pathetic!” the user wrote.

The Trump-focused monologue caught some viewers off guard because Jelly Roll has not publicly aligned himself with either major political party. While testifying before Congress about the fentanyl crisis in 2024, the singer said he had “no political alliance” and identified as neither a Democrat nor a Republican.

The country star has also previously discussed feeling disconnected from political issues because of his turbulent upbringing and years spent battling addiction and legal troubles. His latest guest-hosting appearance, however, placed him directly in the middle of a politically charged conversation.

Jelly Roll was not the first summer guest host to use the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” stage to criticize Trump. Rosie O’Donnell also targeted the president during her recent stint on the ABC late-night program.

Doctors Have Raised Concerns About Trump’s Weight

The Washington Post report cited by Jelly Roll examined Trump’s reported weight gain and the potential health risks associated with it. Trump weighed 238 pounds during his May physical, placing his body mass index just below the medical threshold for obesity based on his reported height of 6 feet, 3 inches.

The president’s doctors advised him to improve his diet, increase his physical activity and lose weight. However, the medical report concluded that his cognitive and physical performance remained excellent. The White House reportedly responded to questions about Trump’s weight by pointing to his energy, stamina and demanding schedule.

Jelly Roll used the medical discussion as the setup for his comedy routine, but his decision to get personal with the president divided viewers.
