The LIV Golf League is relaunching with a new version of the breakaway tour in 2027, but Jon Rahm won’t be involved. The two-time major champion is leaving the rival tour after finding the terms of LIV Golf 2.0 “unacceptable.”
Although ditching LIV Golf is probably the best move for Rahm’s career, this decision comes with harsh consequences. Rahm will be ineligible to play on the PGA Tour in 2027. He’s also reportedly owed $150 million from the LIV Golf contract he signed three years ago, per Sky Sports. Rahm and LIV Golf are working to finalize a separation agreement by Oct. 15, per his attorney, John Beck.
“Mr. Rahm has independently reviewed the proposed terms of LIV 2.0 and has determined that those terms are unacceptable to him, and he will not be participating going forward in LIV 2.0,” Beck told a bankruptcy hearing.
