Russell Brand has been found guilty of rape and immediately put behind bars.

Following his high-profile trial at Southwark Crown Court, the disgraced comedian is now confronting the harsh reality of life behind bars after being convicted of rape and three counts of sexual assault.

The 51-year-old was dragged to court by multiple women who accused him of rape, sexual misconduct, and assault, which resulted in a lengthy trial at Southwark Crown Court.

The former Hollywood actor spent his first night behind bars at Wandsworth jail in South London. Officials immediately placed him in a basic holding cell following medical assessments and strip-searches.

The Sun reported that he was stripped of his flamboyant designer wardrobe and silk scarf in exchange for a standard drab prison tracksuit.

The father of three reportedly spent a night on a thin mattress inside a cramped 9.8ft by 6.7ft cell, and was only allowed to keep his Bible. For breakfast, he was served either cereal or porridge, fruit, and tea.

The grim conditions of jail are far from the reality of the disgraced comedian, who has a net worth of $20 million, as sources say:

“The first night for anyone in a jail is really daunting – and Brand was petrified. It will be a massive shock to the system to him and he will be monitored around the clock. All prisoners have to strip off in reception which is humiliating and a real wake-up call.”

He has now been locked down under 24-hour surveillance due to potential security risks, and his immediate future remains bound to rigid rules as he prepares for his Monday sentencing court date.

Unfortunately for Brand, the jury’s decision officially sealed his fate. After deliberating for over eight hours following a three-week trial at Southwark Crown Court, the jury returned to deliver a unanimous verdict, finding the entertainer guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault.

While the disgraced star was acquitted of two additional rape charges and one count of attempted indecent assault, the convictions carry severe legal consequences.

According to The Blast, he was flanked by officers as his wife, Laura Gallacher, watched from the public gallery. He noticeably remained completely emotionless as Judge Joel Bennathan remanded him into custody ahead of Monday’s sentencing.

“You’ve been convicted of a number of offenses including rape. The consequence of that is inevitably a significant custodial term. My current view is that I therefore have to remand you into custody,” the judge said.

As he awaits his official prison sentence, legal experts emphasize that the severe convictions will result in a lengthy term behind bars.

Building on the dramatic court outcome and his immediate remand into custody, the disgraced entertainer’s legal nightmare appears to be far from over.

Even as the 51-year-old comedian prepares to hear his prison sentence, authorities revealed that investigators are actively pursuing additional claims brought forward by potential victims.

London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed that their dedicated task force, Operation Actinolite, has already submitted files to the Crown Prosecution Service regarding two separate rape complaints.

“We have a live investigation. Our work’s not done… We’ll support you and listen to you,” the lead detective said.

With prosecutors evaluating the new evidence, the media personality could soon face a fresh wave of criminal charges even while serving his impending prison term.

Following Brand’s verdict, the judge formally denied bail. However, the actor appeared determined to maintain a calm look before being led down to the cells.

Surrounded by dock guards as his wife, Laura, exited the public gallery in tears. Meanwhile, Brand turned to his legal team and mouthed “I’m good, I’m good.”

On the other hand, his father, Ron, made no effort to hide his shock and anger over the jury’s unanimous decision. He told reporters he was completely blindsided by the outcome, saying, “I just didn’t expect this,” as reported by The Blast.

Although Brand was ultimately found guilty, his legal counsel initially argued otherwise. They insisted that while his lifestyle may have been wild, it didn’t cross the threshold into criminal acts.

Brand’s counsel painted a portrait of a star who was simply “seeking approval and adoration” from women. He maintained that Brand genuinely believed every interaction was mutually agreed upon, as reported by The Blast.

Notably, the defense’s argument followed an emotional testimony from Brand himself, who took the witness stand to describe the overwhelming toll the trial took on his personal life.
