Janelle Brown’s Daughter Slams Kody’s ‘Respect For Boundaries’

Janelle Brown‘s pregnant daughter, Madison, is not staying silent when it comes to her father, Kody Brown‘s apparent lack of respect. 

The expectant mother recently revealed her decision to keep her third pregnancy a secret from Kody, citing his disinterest as a key factor. 

Madison Brown’s frustration comes on the heels of her parents’ split in 2022, which has since strained the relationship between Kody Brown and his children. 

Madison opened up about her strained relationship with her father, Kody, while speaking about boundaries on her podcast. 

The 29-year-old explained her choice to go “no contact” with Kody, revealing her frustration with his unwillingness to respect her boundaries. Madison started by sharing:

“I have no contact with some of my family, and it’s because of stuff that has happened.” 

The star explained her decision to distance herself, stating emphatically, “[Kody] doesn’t have any respect for boundaries, and you have to play by his rules, and I just don’t care to do that.”

Her decision to cut ties stemmed from this ongoing tension and Kody’s defensiveness, as he would often deny her concerns or dismiss her opinions.

Speaking on the Nov. 11 episode of her podcast, The Authentic Society, Madison recalled her father’s angry responses whenever she was direct or questioned his actions. 

“My dad would get very angry when I would — I’m a straight shooter, you ask me a question, I’m going to tell you what I think — and he would get very angry when I would be like, ‘I don’t know why you’re surprised here,'” she noted. 

Although this is the first time Madison has directly spoken out about Kody’s behavior, Janelle has previously addressed it.

In a previous episode of “Sister Wives,” the mother-of-six opened up about Madison’s choice, sharing that her daughter felt Kody’s absence in her children’s lives left her uncertain about his interest in her expanding family.

Kody, puzzled by Madison’s silence, asked Janelle, “Why didn’t she call me to tell me she was having a baby?” to which Janelle replied, “The kids are all feeling very estranged from you.”

Janelle explained further, “Madison has observed to me that Kody has not been out to see her kids since Evie was born, and Evie’s 3.” Madison, now a mother of three, felt Kody’s involvement was so limited that informing him about her pregnancy seemed meaningless.

In the same episode, Kody opened up about the tension between him and Madison, attributing their distance to “jealousy and gossip.” 

Struggling to understand why she has pulled away, the entrepreneur expressed frustration, saying, “She’s talking like I’ve done some kind of evil to them. I’m missing something here.”

That was not the first time Kody voiced concerns about feeling intentionally shut out by his children. During an earlier conversation with his wife, Robyn, he claimed that Madison and others were punishing him, adding:

“I am only guilty of not falling madly in love with their mothers.”

Robyn encouraged him to try to rebuild the relationship, but Kody remained hesitant, saying that every time he reached out to Madison, she allegedly “spread gossip” about him within the family.

The 55-year-old has not held back from calling out her ex-husband for the strained relationship between him and their children.

Back in September, The Blast shared that she openly criticized Kody and his last wife, Robyn, for what she views as poor parenting that fueled the family’s estrangement. 

Janelle noted that tensions grew after the father-of-eighteen married Robyn in 2014, as he became increasingly absent from his eldest kids’ lives. She even revealed how strict Kody could be, saying he would scold her children for minor things like opening Robyn’s fridge. 

Janelle claimed that the mother-of-five created divisions in the family, as she wanted Kody’s time and attention solely focused on her. Reflecting on the impact, Janelle noted, “My kids were always like, from the very beginning- they knew that their dad was not going to always be there.”

According to In Touch, Janelle alleged that Kody had a special bond with Robyn’s youngest daughter, Ari, who reportedly became upset whenever he was away for more than a few days. 

However, Robyn swiftly denied these accusations, asserting that Ari simply “loved her dad” and wanted to spend time with him, but this did not mean Kody neglected his older children.

The 45-year-old emphasized that her husband’s involvement with his other kids remained consistent, asserting, “Did it ever stop Kody from going to another mom’s home? No, it didn’t. I wouldn’t have allowed it.”

As Madison Brown awaits the birth of her fourth child, she has chosen distance and peace over maintaining strained family connections.
