Lacey Chabert didn’t give herself the title, “Queen of Christmas,” but she loves everything about the holiday season. After starring in 40 Hallmark movies, Chabert has a special love for Christmas and everything that comes with the season.

The “Mean Girls” star recently partnered with Russell Stover to extend her love of the season while reminiscing about her special childhood holiday memories. She had some time to sit down with The Blast to share more about her partnership, acting career, how she feels about being called the “Queen of Christmas,” and more.

And if you’re wondering just how much Chabert loves the holiday season – the limit does not exist.

When you think about holiday films, Chabert likely comes to mind. She’s starred in 40 Hallmark movies, as well as her recent Netflix film, “Hot Frosty.” While some actors might get tired of doing holiday films, that’s not at all how Chabert feels.

“So many people ask me, ‘Don’t you get sick of this time of year after making so many Christmas movies?’ I’m like, ‘never.’ I want to extend each year, which is why I’m decorating very early,” Chabert told The Blast exclusively. “I just love all of it. I love the Christmas decorations. I love the feeling in the air. There’s a feeling of together, making family recipes that we grew up cooking, and now I do them with my daughter. I love looking at the Christmas lights everywhere.”

Another holiday tradition Chabert enjoys – Elf on the Shelf. She said her daughter, Julia, “absolutely loves” it.

“We have some wild and crazy elves who do really fun things,” Chabert revealed. “I get so excited about this time of year.” She explained that she’s just like so many other parents who set the bar high with the elves but then by day six or seven, get tired and the elves “forget to wake up.” (She’s one of us!)

Chabert recently partnered with Russell Stover to share some of her happy holiday memories and to spread the word about their “Make Happy Memories” contest.  She said she was happy to partner with them “to be a part of carrying on this lovely holiday tradition.”

“I love this contest so much because I think it’s such a nice way to make new memories and have something to look forward to. And Russell Stover has been a part of my family’s holiday tradition since I was a kid,” she explained. “Walking into my grandparents’ house and seeing that beautiful box of chocolates and being so excited that we got to have our chocolate.”

Chabert also reminisced about the time she bought her mom a box of Russell Stover chocolate for the first time as a Christmas gift.

“I was 8 years old, and I remember we were living in New York City. I made her take me to the store and wait outside,” she told The Blast. “I bought this small Russell Stover chocolates and ran home and wrapped it up and hid it until it was time to give it to her. I was just so proud of it and excited about it. And it’s such a full circle thing for me now that I have an 8-year-old daughter.”

Being Called The ‘Queen Of Christmas’

While many know Chabert as the “Queen of Christmas,” it’s not a title she gave herself. In fact, she said it makes her “feel slightly uncomfortable.”

“That’s definitely not a title I’ve given myself. So I always feel slightly uncomfortable because I don’t look at it that way. I just love telling these stories,” Chabert said. “I love that I’ve gotten to do 40 movies for Hallmark. It is a unique experience, something I never saw coming.”

Chabert’s first Hallmark movie was “Elevator Girl,” in 2010. She explained that she’s “just so thankful for it,” and it’s been a “unique experience.”

“I feel a real responsibility to try to expand on that storytelling every time and to give the audience, our loyal, wonderful audience who continues to tune in, I want to give them the best movie I possibly can,” she explained. “I’m so thankful for all the people that I’ve had the chance to collaborate with and how supportive Hallmark is of the different types of stories we’ve been able to tell, and what we have in store for the future is really exciting.”

Starting at a young age in commercials and TV, and then Broadway, Chabert is known for her diverse acting career. From “Mean Girls” to “The Wild Thornberrys” to all of her holiday films, Chabert has a multigenerational fanbase, and she’s grateful for it.

“It makes me feel incredible that I’ve had the chance to work in the business since I was 7 years old. It’s been a long and winding road. I’m just so thankful for all of it,” she said. “To the people who continue to watch and tune in, I just want to hug you all and say thank you.”

As far as how Chabert chooses her projects, she said something in it has to feel “like I can make it personalized for me.”

“Even though I’m playing a character that might not be like myself, there has to be something in it that feels connected to me on a deep level,” she shared with The Blast exclusively. “Even if that’s never revealed in the script, I just have to feel like that deep connection to it. And the movies that I’ve had the chance to do for the holidays with Hallmark and now with Netflix, I just love the center of them all. They’re full of heart.”

When discussing the popularity of “Mean Girls,” Chabert, who played the role of Gretchen Wieners, said “you never know how a project is going to be received.”

“You go to work every day, trying to do your best and hoping for the best, and when we were working on that, it felt very special,” she said. “I felt so thankful to be there, but you never know. And the fact that in 20-plus years, people have enjoyed it the way they have, it’s such a joy.”

Chabert said that while filming “Mean Girls,” she hoped it would be the hit that it has been, and said she thought it “felt really special.”

“Tina Fey’s an obviously incredible talent,” she said. “And I was so thankful, she wrote this phenomenal script and Mark Waters is such a wonderful director. Everyone in the cast was so funny and going to work was just pure fun.”
