‘Yellowstone’ Finale Leaves Fans In Awe With Satisfying Ending

The final episode of “Yellowstone” aired on Sunday night, and despite Kevin Costner’s absence for the second half of season five, fans received a satisfying ending to the popular show.

Kevin Costner played the show’s patriarch, John Dutton, for most of the series as he tried to save his ranch from greedy corporations looking to expand. However, his character was killed off in the middle of season five following the actor’s falling out with the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan.

The final episode of “Yellowstone” reveals what happened to the ranch and the other characters following his death.

Fate of ‘Yellowstone’ Ranch and Favorite Characters Revealed

Fan favorite Beth Dutton, played by “Flight” actress Kelly Reilly, and her brother Kayce, played by Luke Grimes, sold the ranch to Chief Rainwater and the Broken Rock Reservation, Variety reports.

The siblings sold the multi-million dollar ranch for a mere $1.25 per acre ($1.1 million) to prevent corporations from ruining the land — on the condition that Kayce Dutton and his family could remain in their home on the ranch.

Rainwater also agreed not to build on the land to preserve it. Both siblings are freed from the drama surrounding protecting the ranch for most of the series, which led to several deaths, and seem to be at peace with selling the ranch.

    Beth Avenges Her Father’s Death

For most of the series, Beth physically fought with her adopted brother, played by Wes Bentley, Jamie Dutton, who was responsible for the death of their father, John Dutton, among others.

Following John’s funeral, Beth went to confront Jamie with a large knife and a can of bear spray. Her husband, Rip, played by Cole Hauser, soon realized that she’d left the ranch and followed after her with cowboy Lloyd, played by Forrie J. Smith.

Beth hid inside Jamie’s house and attacked him after he came home. The siblings had a knock-down, drag-out fight, and Beth was unconscious for a few moments before waking up and attacking her brother again as Jamie tried to rinse the bear spray from his eyes with two containers of milk. Jamie ends up choking Beth before she is saved after Rip enters the house and throws Jamie off. Beth then stabbed Jamie in the heart, and he died.

Beth called 9-1-1 as Rip and Lloyd took one final trip to “The Train Station,” a place where they routinely dumped bodies and dropped Jamie down the cliff. Beth told the police that she confronted Jamie for missing his father’s funeral and accused him of being responsible for his death, which prompted his attack.

She explained that Jamie had gone unconscious and that when she came to, he had fled the scene. The police believed her explanation given her injuries.

“Yellowstone” fans enjoyed finally seeing Beth get revenge on Jamie.

“Love that Beth finally ended Jamie, but lowkey wish we could’ve seen Rip whoop that a-s a little bit more. Throwing him around a little wasn’t enough for Jamie’s sorry a-s #Yellowstone,” wrote one fan on X.

“I [have] been waiting since episode 1 season 1 for Beth to unalive Jamie, and that moment has finally come #YellowstoneTV,” added another.

Rip and Beth Buy Their Own Ranch

Beth and her cowboy, Rip, buy their own ranch in a nearby Montana town and bring along their “adopted” son, Carter, who is played by Finn Little.

Rip invited Lloyd to come with them, but he declined.

Rumor is that there is a “Yellowstone” spin-off with Beth and Rip in the works, and Rip told Lloyd that his door is always open to him.

Teeter and Jimmy Go Work For Travis

Teeter, played by Jennifer Landon, joined cowboy Jimmy, played by Jefferson White, working for Travis (Taylor Sheridan) at his Texas ranch.

Ryan (Ian Bohen) joined his girlfriend, Abby, played by country music star Lainy Wilson, on tour as Walker (Ryan Bingham) and Laramie (Hassie Harrison) joined the rodeo.

Kayce, Monica, And Tate Stay On The Ranch

Kayce and his wife, Monica, played by actress Kelsey Asbille, settled in at their home on the ranch with their son, Tate (Brecken Merrill).

The youngest Dutton sibling planned to raise cattle in a smaller section of the ranch and was relieved to give up his job as the Livestock Commissioner. The family seems happy as they settle in. The show ended with narration by Elsa Dutton, a character from the “Yellowstone” prequel, “1883.” Elsa noted that the ranch was returned as was once promised by her father.

“My father was told they would come for this land, and he promised to return it.”
