Stars Say ‘There’s No Perfect Way’ To Balance Career And Motherhood

Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis were interviewed for Parade, and both actresses said that “there’s no perfect way” to balance being a mom while also working on a career.

Anderson has two children — Brandon, 27, and Dylan, 26 — with her ex-husband, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.

Jamie Lee Curtis also has two children — 38-year-old Annie and 28-year-old Ruby — with her husband, Christopher Guest.

In “The Last Showgirl,” Anderson’s character is told by her daughter that she was “hurt” by her mother’s career.

“The center of the movie is the story of a single mother who has taken a choice to do her art and the consequences of having that child come back and say, ‘It hurts me that you chose your art over me,'” said Curtis. “Most working mothers in the world will see this movie and identify with that complex issue.”

“I have two children, 38 and 28, and I’ve worked all of their lives, and I have suffered for it,” she continued. “And they have suffered for it, and that’s the complicated dance.”

“There’s no perfect way to do it,” said Anderson. “We’re all gonna face our adult children and beg for forgiveness…. It’s still always heartbreaking. You just feel responsible.”

“There’s no perfect way,” Curtis agreed.

Anderson Shares Her Feelings On Aging

    MEGA

Anderson, 57, has embraced aging and often appears on the Red Carpet without makeup.

After appearing at Paris Fashion Week sans makeup in March of 2024 and making headlines, the former “Baywatch” actress shared a post on Instagram that summed up her feelings on what’s important in life.

“Life humbles you,” she wrote. “As you grow old… you stop chasing the big things and start valuing the little things… Alone time, enough sleep, a good diet, long walks, and quality time with loved ones. Simplicity becomes the ultimate goal.”

Sixty-six-year-old Curtis also shared her feelings about aging and noted that getting older takes bravery.

“Aging is not for the weak of heart,” she said. “It takes a real brave moment of looking in the mirror and you’re looking at the truth.”

The “Halloween” actress also said social media and filters aren’t helping, “because people have to accept who they are.”

“Nobody gets out of it without facing it,” she added. “You hope you do it with some grace at some point. I’ve tried to do it with some grace, but I fail at it.”

She also noted the irony of spending most of her life saying she was older than she was.

“I’ve been saying I’m older than I am my whole life,” said Curtis. “Like, when I was 25, I said I was nearing 30, and people go ‘no you’re 25,’ I’m like, ‘I know but I’m kissing 30,’ so I’ve always been I’ve always aged up.”

Curtis revealed that “The Last Showgirl” was filmed in just 18 days. The “True Lies” star also said that the set was predominantly women.

“The dynamic is that the movie was made in 18 days,” Curtis said. “It was a — a really intense, beautiful kind of confluence of artists and women — predominantly women. And, you know, we play best friends, so the immediacy of that it was in a weird way, the minute we touched, it was like all my life experiences went into her. All her life experiences went into me, and we went ‘oh right’ and then, you know, kept going.”

“Yeah and we’re in this together,” added Anderson.
