Russell Brand has opened up again about his once-promiscuous lifestyle while he was at the peak of his career in Hollywood.

This comes after he was hit with five sex crime charges in the U.K., including rape, stemming from allegations made by four women.

Russell Brand has denied the allegations and is scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on the charges this May.

The Actor Claims Sex Fueled His Desire For Fame As He Denies Rape Allegations Again

Speaking on his Rumble show, “Stay Free with Russell Brand,” the actor once again denied the rape and sexual assault charges he is currently facing in the U.K. while also going candid about his past sex-driven lifestyle.

Brand explained that the accusations against him relate to incidents that allegedly occurred between 1999 and 2004, a time when he was at the height of his fame.

Reflecting on that period, the comedian said he felt like his former self “must have been captured by a kind of darkness” as he heavily indulged in sex, drugs, and alcohol.

He claimed that during those years, he was “out there having sex with everyone,” as many women wanted to be with him.

Despite acknowledging his reckless behavior, Brand insisted that he always sought consent before engaging in any sexual activity and never raped or sexually assaulted his partners.

Prior to his recent rant on Rumble, Brand, in an over one-minute long clip posted on X (formerly Twitter), denied the rape and sexual assault allegations made against him.

The comedian, while facing the camera, referenced his earlier years in Hollywood riddled with “drug” and “sex” addiction.”

While admitting that he once led a promiscuous life, Brand insisted that he never raped anyone. B

He said, “I’ve always told you guys that when I was young and single before I had my wife and family … I was a fool, man. I was a fool before I lived in the light of the lord.”

“I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile. But what I never was was a rapist,” Brand claimed. “I’ve never engaged in nonconsensual activities. I pray you can tell that by looking in my eyes.”

Brand is currently facing charges of rape, indecent assault, oral rape, and two counts of sexual assault as stated in a press release by the Metropolitan Police on Friday, April 4.

The charges were filed after an investigation into the comedian yielded accusations from four women, with the incidents allegedly occurring between 1999 and 2005.

“In 1999 a woman was raped in the Bournemouth area. In 2001 a woman was indecently assaulted in the Westminster area of London. In 2004 a woman was orally raped and sexually assaulted in the Westminster area of London. Between 2004 and 2005, a woman was sexually assaulted in the Westminster area of London,” the statement from the U.K. police read.

It also revealed that Brand will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 2, for his first hearing on the charges.

In January 2024, Brand appeared on Tucker Carlson’s X show, vehemently denying the allegations after they came to light, describing them as “hurtful attacks” on his character.

“Of course, I deny any allegations… that have been advanced,” he told Carlson, adding, “I reject the allegations in the strongest possible terms.”

Brand claimed that accusations against him were a “deliberate, profound attempt to shut down any dissent in an astonishingly aggressive way.”

The “Get Him To The Greek” star also referenced his past lifestyle during the interview with Carlson. Brand admitted that his “promiscuous” lifestyle seemingly has a part to play in all of the allegations.

“I put myself in a vulnerable position by being very promiscuous,” Brand said. “Attacks like this, being accused of what I consider to be the most appalling crimes, is very painful and hurtful. But there are consequences to the foolish way I lived in the past.”

Besides the charges in the U.K., Brand worries he might also face charges in the U.S. over a sexual assault case brought against him by a woman identified anonymously as Jane Doe.

The Jane Doe, who worked on the set of the 2011 film “Arthur,” claimed that Brand exposed himself to cast members before sexually assaulting her in a lavatory.

According to The Times, she filed the suit against the comedian in 2023 and also named Warner Bros. as one of the defendants.

The studio has recently offered to hand over “some hours of video outtake footage,” which may contain incriminating evidence relevant to the case against Brand.

Meanwhile, Brand’s attorneys attempted to delay the trial, arguing that it might “overlap” with the ongoing case in the U.K. However, his request was denied by NY Judge Shlomo Hagler.
