Hilaria Baldwin Refuses To Name Amy Schumer In Memoir Despite Diss

In her new book, “Manual Not Included,” the mother of seven called out the “stranger” who previously made fun of her family. Although she decided not to call the person out by name, many fans felt that she was pointing at Schumer.

During her Netflix special, “Emergency Contact,” the “Trainwreck” star made fun of Hilaria and her “von Trapp family,” alleging that Hilaria and her husband, actor Alec Baldwin, have too many children. She also made fun of Hilaria’s “fake” Spanish accent and the “Rust” shooting that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October 2021.

During her “Emergency Contact” special, which hit Netflix in 2023, the “Inside Amy Schumer” star joked that “Hilaria from España” is actually “Hillary from Boston.” Baldwin’s wife was actually born Hillary Lynn Wayward-Thomas, and while her family has close ties to Spain, she is believed to come from English, French-Canadian, German, Irish, and Slovak descent.

During the Netflix comedy, Amy told her audience that the mom-of-seven “is in no way Spanish — her parents are not from Spain, no one in her life is from Spain,” in comments transcribed by Page Six.

She also joked about the couple’s “von Trapp amount of children,” joking that Hilaria gave them very “Spanish names like Jamón and Croqueta and Flamenco.” Amy insisted that she wasn’t trying to “bully a sociopath,” adding that the couple doesn’t “give a f-ck” about appropriating a cultural identity.

Hilaria and Alec share seven children: Carmen Gabriela, Rafael Thomas, Leonardo Ángel Charles, Romeo Alejandro David, Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, María Lucía Victoria, and Ilaria Catalina Irena.

“This woman, since she met her husband, has straight-up pretended she is from Spain. And her husband shot someone,” Amy said during the special, which aired in June 2023. “Now stay with me! My point is that neither of them gives a f-ck.”

During a prior performance in Las Vegas, Amy revealed that she wanted to make a joke about the “Rust” shooting when she hosted the Oscars, but her lawyer did not approve.

In a Romperinterview published the following week, Hilaria responded to Amy’s comments, saying that it is “a ridiculous thing to be cruel to another person.”

In her new book, “Manual Not Included,” Hilaria wrote about a “famous person, someone I’ve never met, who said nasty and untrue things about me and my family.”

Although she didn’t mention Amy by name, she did say that this unknown celebrity mentioned her and her family in a “show” and that “she even tried to bait me and Alec via Instagram.”

“We didn’t engage with her, and I guess I am proud of that,” she wrote. “It made me mad at the system, but here, in this book, is where I can talk about it. I don’t need to use her name and I don’t want any problems with her, and I would like to be left out of any articles that mention her, because she has nothing to do with me. A total stranger.”

In her book, Hilaria describes how the negative attention caused her to become “very sick with stress” and claims that she even saw one of her children crying over the comments.

“It gutted me because I couldn’t understand how someone could be so inherently cruel,” she wrote. However, she insisted that she doesn’t “need an apology,” adding, “No matter what, I hope I never meet her.”

In December 2020, Amy decided to poke fun at Hilaria by posting family photos on her own Instagram page. However, she later took them down. In January 2021, Amy told Entertainment Tonightthat she decided to delete the photos because Hilaria “seemed a little bit upset” by the joke.

“I was just like, ‘I don’t want to be mean,’ and she seemed like maybe it hurt her feelings, so I just took it down,” she said at the time. “She is amazing, and I wish her and her family the best. And I hope she gets to visit Spain as much as she wants.”
