In a crucial race that could turn around his season, Shane van Gisbergen will lead the NASCAR Cup Series field to the green flag in Sunday’s Viva Mexico 250 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Van Gisbergen’s lap of 92.776 seconds was enough to top the charts as weather rolled in and ended the qualifying session early. If wet weather presents itself on Sunday, NASCAR does have rain tires available.

Ryan Preece, Ross Chastain, Ty Gibbs and Michael McDowell rounded out the top five, with Kyle Larson, Todd Gilliland, AJ Allmendinger, Joey Logano and Daniel Suarez completing the top 10.

Other notable qualifying efforts include Kyle Busch in 11th, Chase Elliott in 12th, Ryan Blaney in 18th, Tyler Reddick in 22nd and William Byron in 27th.

Chase Briscoe, who came into the weekend having won three poles in a row, qualified 19th. Meanwhile, Christopher Bell, who won the first road course race of the season at Circuit of the Americas on March 2, qualified 31st.

Ryan Truex will start 36th as he fills in for Denny Hamlin, with Katherine Legge rounding out the field in 37th.

The Viva Mexico 250 will go green shortly after 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, with coverage on Prime Video, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Pre-race coverage will begin at 2 p.m. ET on Prime Video and MRN.
