IN THE NEWS: King County’s Department of Community and Human Services has seen its funding of grants for various service providers balloon from $22 million to $1.5 billion – yes, billion – in just four years. Now, a county auditor’s report has revealed that oversight of the contractors who receive all that money is seriously lacking and found improper payments, including potential fraud, in several instances.
It’s your tax dollars at work, folks, or, perhaps, not working at all.
