Girmay Zahilay: ‘How refreshing’ | The Seattle Times

Re: “Girmay Zahilay sworn in as King County executive” (Nov 25, Local News):

Congratulations to Girmay Zahilay. What an inspiring story! And kudos to both he and Claudia Balducci for campaigns that involved mutual respect and a notable lack of name-calling and negativity (in stark contrast to the Seattle mayoral race).

I’m inspired by his goal of a government that is “accessible and present and human.” How refreshing in this time of petty, partisan politics. There is work to do and time will tell how successful Zahilay will be but Thomas Jefferson would be proud.

If only that person currently occupying the White House could take note. Dare to dream.

    Dave Hoerlein, Seattle
