Lizzo has one less allegation to deal with in her ongoing legal battle with her former dancers.

The singer is currently embroiled in a legal fight against Arianna Davis, Noelle Rodriguez, and Crystal Williams, who accused her of sexual harassment and other claims.

The former dancers have now chosen to drop their fat-shaming allegation after evidence emerged that detailed why one of them was fired by Lizzo.

Lizzo recently scored a win in her ongoing lawsuit against a trio of dancers who were in her employment between 2021 and spring 2023.

The dancers, Arianna Davis, Noelle Rodriguez, and Crystal Williams, claimed in their 2023 lawsuit that they were subjected to a number of workplace violations during their time with the singer.

These claims included sexual harassment, fat shaming, false imprisonment, and interference with prospective economic advantage, among other allegations.

Now, in a surprising twist, the dancers have chosen to drop their fat-shaming claims from the numerous allegations they filed against Lizzo, per TMZ.

Following the ruling, Lizzo’s powerhouse attorney, Marty Singer, and his partner, Melissa Y. Glass, said it was a major part of the sexual harassment lawsuit, but it had always lacked merit.

The attorneys also revealed that over a dozen witnesses denied the validity of the allegations in sworn declarations to the court.

They also claim that the judge concluded that Davis was fired after she made “an unauthorized recording of Lizzo in a dancer meeting and sent it to Williams, who was no longer working on The Special Tour.”

Despite the legal win, Lizzo still has to contend with the other claims from the dancers.

However,  via her lawyers, she has expressed confidence that “she will prevail in the case,” if it eventually gets to a trial.

On the part of the dancers, they seem to also be looking forward to a day in court, as their attorney took a swipe at Lizzo over the failure of her special motion to dismiss the case.

“We are maintaining that Judge Epstein was correct in his ruling denying Lizzo’s special motion to strike the vast majority of claims they attacked, including false imprisonment and harassment,” the dancers’ attorney, Ronald Zambrano, told TMZ.

He added, “Of the couple of claims Judge Epstein did dismiss, the plaintiffs have taken a considered approach to leave that be. One would hope to see the same level of intellectual honesty and neutral assessment from the defendants, but that hasn’t been the case thus far, and it’s disappointing.”

Lizzo’s request for the lawsuit to be dismissed was filed under the anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) statute.

However, back in 2024, Epstein ruled that the request didn’t fit completely into the context of the statute.

He ended up dismissing only some part of the suit, while rejecting the singer’s request for an entire dismissal.

“This case presents a number of difficult issues. And the courts are rightfully wary of injecting themselves into the creative process,” Epstein said in his 34-page ruling at the time, per IQ Magazine. “Finding the right balance is often no easy task, and this case is a perfect example.

He added, “It is dangerous for the court to weigh in, ham-fisted, into constitutionally protected activity. But it is equally dangerous to turn a blind eye to allegations of discrimination or other forms of misconduct merely because they take place in a speech-related environment.”

Meanwhile, the legal battle has also affected Lizzo emotionally and led to her changing her persona.

In July, she said she became “very paranoid and isolated” from sharing intimate details with her close circle.

“I used to walk into glam and be like, ‘Oh, let me tell you about this crazy sh-t that happened last night!’ I couldn’t do that anymore,” she said in the July issue of Women’s Health.

At some point, her paranoia got worse and led to her pushing everyone away.

“I wasn’t even talking to my therapist. I wasn’t present. I wasn’t open. I wasn’t myself anymore,” Lizzo recalled of that time.

Lizzo further noted during her chat with the publication, “It got to the point where I was like, ‘I could die.'”

She added, “I never attempted to kill myself or thought about it, but I did think, If everyone hates you and thinks you’re a terrible person, then what’s the point?”

The singer, however, began to see things differently after attending Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour, where she was showered with love instead of boos.

“It made me feel like, ‘Wow, maybe I don’t want to die,’ Lizzo recounted. “Life is worth living. That was the kick-starter to me being like, ‘Okay, Melissa, get your -ss in gear and take your f-cking life back.'”
