In the Olympic quarterfinals against Sweden, it was Quinn Hughes who scored the game-winner in overtime to send Team USA to the semifinals.
In the gold-medal round, it was his brother Jack — minus some teeth —who scored in OT to secure the Americans their first men’s hockey gold medal since the “Miracle on Ice” in 1980 with a 2-1 win over Canada. But after the game, Hughes refused to talk about himself.
“Unbelievable game by [goalie Connor] Hellebuyck, he was our best player tonight by a mile,” Jack Hughes told NBC’s Kathryn Tappen. “Unreal game by our team. That’s just a ballsy, gutsy win.”
