A teacher at a Texas high school was shot by a student Monday morning and that student is now dead, law enforcement said.

The teacher was hospitalized with unknown injuries, and the student, a 15-year-old boy, died at the scene, the Comal County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release on Facebook.

“We know this is incredibly difficult to hear. What we can tell you is this situation is contained, and there is no ongoing threat to students,” the sheriff’s office said.

Further details were not immediately available.

The shooting happened at Hill Country College Preparatory High School in Bulverde, a city about 30 miles north of San Antonio. The school’s lockdown alarm was activated just after 8:30 a.m., the district said in a statement.

At 9:38 a.m., the district said the school was secure and students would be taken to Bulverde Middle School to be picked up by their parents.
