John Harbaugh hasn’t coached his first game with the New York Giants, but he has already stirred the pot in the NFC East.
He’s looking to endear himself to his new fan base, and he knew just the right way to get the ball rolling. The former Baltimore Ravens head coach took an uncalled-for shot at the Dallas Cowboys during a town-hall event.
“All I care about is tomorrow’s practice,” Harbaugh said, per Darryl Slater of NJ.com. “Because if tomorrow’s practice is the way it’s supposed to be, that’ll be one more step in the direction of being a good enough football team to kick the Cowboys’ a—.”
Of course, it didn’t take long for that clip to go viral, and Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb wasn’t particularly happy about it.

“Lol that’s cute,” Lamb wrote on social media (h/t Brandon Loree).
The Cowboys and Giants will meet for the season opener, and Lamb has a chance to make franchise history in that matchup. The former first-round pick is just 44 yards away from passing Dez Bryant in the Cowboys’ all-time receiving yards list. He’s up to 7,416 yards, still far behind the legendary Jason Witten (12,977).
Clearly, he got some bulletin-board material, and there should be more than enough motivation to make Harbaugh regret stirring the pot. The Cowboys went to great lengths to bolster their defense this offseason, and with renewed Super Bowl aspirations, they’ll look to make a statement from Day 1.
