The San Antonio Spurs find themselves on the brink of elimination from the Western Conference Finals on Thursday. If they’re going to survive and force a do-or-die Game 7 in Oklahoma City, they’re likely going to need a better performance from franchise cornerstone Victor Wembanyama.
Wemby scored 20 points, but shot just 26.7 percent from the field and missed all five of his three-point attempts. The Thunder have kept him quiet on the glass, holding him to a combined 20 rebounds in Games 3-5 after he hauled in 24 and 17 in the first two contests. Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson demanded more from their best player after the loss.
“[Victor’s] got to take more than 15 shots,” Johnson said after his 4-for-15 performance.
“Even with the 12 free throws, he’s going to need to score more than 20 points for sure. Oklahoma City did a good job.”
Fellow Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle was a bright spot with an efficient 24 points, six assists and five rebounds, but the Thunder pulled out a 127-114 victory to move within one win of their second-consecutive NBA Finals.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Wembanyama has already proven he can truly dominate a game, scoring 41 in Game 1 of this series and becoming one of the 53 active players to reach the 50-point milestone against the Wizards in the regular season. With that being said, can you name the active NBA players to score 50 points in a game?
Good luck!
