Celtics, Heat get opposite Giannis Antetokounmpo trade updates

There have been a lot of zigs and zags when it comes to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the countless trade rumors around him.

However, given how things ended last season, it looks like the Milwaukee Bucks might finally be open to dealing their superstar.

Unsurprisingly, at last half a dozen teams will aggressively pursue the former Finals MVP, including the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat.

Considering that, NBA insider Sam Amick had some great news for the former fan base, but not so much for the latter.

Giannis is intrigued by the Celtics, not so much by the Heat

“From Giannis’ side, the intrigue is real. The respect for Joe Mazzulla, the way that he might see that roster,” Amick said on “The Dan Patrick Show.” “I think it’s worth watching.”

That’s not necessarily the case with Erik Spoelstra’s team, given that there wouldn’t be much left to work with after they trade for him.

“There’s some intel that Giannis has questions about what that Miami roster would look like on the other side of a deal,” Amick added.

The Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers are also expected to be in the mix, while the Oklahoma City Thunder will always be a threat, given their surplus of assets.

As such, the Bucks shouldn’t be in much of a hurry to get a deal done, knowing they can squeeze the last drop of value and get the type of king’s ransom it would take to land a player of Antetokounmpo’s caliber.

Antetokounmpo has been vocal about his desire to win another ring, a determination far bigger than his vow to stay in Milwaukee for his entire career.

As such, if he has a say, he should be leaning toward the team that gives him the best opportunity to win. Then again, the Bucks don’t have to do him any favors, and they must ship him to the team with the best trade offer.
