Wyatt Langford returns to IL in unfortunate blow to Rangers

Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford can’t seem to catch a break this season as he is returning to the IL with a hamstring strain (10-day).

The 24-year-old spent all of May recovering from a Grade 1 flexor strain (right forearm) that he sustained on April 22. Langford was experiencing tightness in his left hamstring and was a late scratch on June 27 against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Since returning from the IL, he has hit seven home runs and boasted a 1.005 OPS in June. With Langford’s injury, the Rangers have reinstated outfielder Evan Carter, who was rehabbing an oblique strain, from the IL.

Langford will be able to return in early July, but with his injury history, the Rangers will likely have him come back after the All-Star break. Langford tried to stretch a double earlier in the series, which is how the injury occurred.
