Jennifer Lopez Is Looking Forward To A New Year After ‘Rough’ Ben Affleck Split

Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez is ready to embrace a fresh start as she heads into the new year.

The actress has had a “rough” 2024 due to her split from actor Ben Affleck after nearly two years of marriage.

Now, she is reportedly “focused on her own life” while looking for a new home for herself and her 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, whom she shares with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.

Earlier in the year, rumors began to spread that Lopez and Affleck’s marriage was on the rocks despite not reaching the two-year mark.

These rumors were finally confirmed in August when the actress filed for divorce from the “Accountant” star after they put their Beverly Hills mansion up for sale.

While the two are currently in the process of mediating their split, sources have claimed that Lopez is doing well for herself despite the loss of her marriage.

Not only is she in the right mind space, but she is also keen on turning the page on the past ahead of the new year and is “focused on her own life.”

“She has had a rough year but is doing well,” an insider said about the mother of two, per People Magazine. “She’s ready for Christmas and to start the new year fresh.”

Lopez seemingly confirmed that she is doing great by making several public appearances since filing for divorce.

Her most recent outing was at the Indiewire Honors, where she received the Maverick Award for her role in the sports biopic “Unstoppable.”

For the occasion, she dazzled in a sheer, shimmering dress that hugged her curves and flowed gracefully to cover her legs.

At the event, she also took time to interact with her fans and also signed autographs for a couple of them.

Before the award night, Lopez was spotted shopping with a huge smile on her face in the Beverly Hills area of California on Black Friday.

For the outing, she was dressed semi-casually in a white button-up shirt, open-toe heels, and a tan trench coat. She accessorized her look with an expensive neutral Hermès bag and oversized sunglasses to shade her eyes.

One of Lopez’s recent appearances was during a house-hunting outing with her real estate agent and her entourage.

The actress has been looking for a home for herself and the kids for a while after putting the Beverly Hills mansion she once shared with Affleck up for sale.

During the house hunt, Lopez checked out three properties in the Beverly Hills and Brentwood areas, which lie within the same vicinity as the home Affleck purchased for himself.

According to the Daily Mail, each of the properties featured super-sized backyards, large pools, and numerous rooms, hinting that the actress isn’t concerned about the potential expenses despite no longer having Affleck to share the cost.

The homes were also equipped with modern facilities, manicured landscapes, and other pleasing aesthetics.

It is unclear whether the actress fancied any of the houses and would make a down payment or if she intends to continue the search.

Prior to Lopez filing for divorce, she and Affleck put up their Beverly Hills mansion for sale. The ex-couple purchased the luxurious piece of architecture in May 2023, less than a year after they married.

They had initially tried to sell it off-market, but when that did not pan out, they put it up for sale publicly on July 11 at $68,000,000. It was initially purchased at $60,805,000.

The estate has 12 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, a separate 5,000-square-foot guest penthouse, a two-bedroom guardhouse, and a caretaker house.

It also boasts other massive facilities for staff, recreation, and parking, including an indoor sports complex featuring basketball and pickleball courts, a fully equipped gym, a boxing ring, a zero-edge swimming pool, as well as a sports lounge and bar.

However, despite all of its allure and the fact that it was renovated completely by the former couple, it has remained up for sale after nearly four months on the market.

Last month, the “Atlas” star opened up about the “most challenging and rewarding role” she has ever had when she appeared on Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast.

“It’s probably the most challenging and rewarding role I’ve ever had,” Lopez said of her role in the upcoming film “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” an adaptation of the 1993 Broadway musical composed by John Kander.

She added, “It’s about love, acceptance, and finding beauty in the darkness. I think those themes are so relevant right now.”

The actress, who plays a woman named Aurora in the project, also mentioned that the “message” of the story is one that needs to be heard by everyone.

“It’s a dark story, but also one about love and survival — about helping each other through hard times,” Lopez explained, per People Magazine. “I think that’s a message we really need right now.”
