On Thursday, November 5, Brady took to his Instagram Stories to share a quote that read, “You are not responsible for correcting every false version of you that exists in someone else’s head.”
He added three red heart emojis to the post and set the tune to One Republic’s hit song, “Good Life.” Other photos in his Instagram Stories reveal a view of clouds, as if he was looking out an airplane window. Another showed an outdoor pool, and chairs set around an unlit fire pit.
Tom Brady Is Reportedly Dating Candice Swanepoel
On October 24, about two weeks before the post, Us Weekly reported that Brady and model Candice Swanepoel have been dating “for a while.” One insider told the outlet that the couple has been seeing each other since the spring, but has been trying to keep their romance out of the spotlight.
Days after their relationship made headlines, another source told the publication that their relationship was more complicated than it initially seemed. Swanepoel’s longtime friend, fellow Victoria’s Secret model Joan Smalls, and Brady apparently have a romantic history together.
The insider revealed that Smalls and Brady “were seeing each other on and off for about a year between 2023 and 2024.”
The source described the relationship as a casual fling, saying, “They were hooking up for a while and still kept in touch afterward.”
Joan Smalls Reportedly Felt ‘Blindsided’ By Tom Brady’s New Romance
Small was apparently “blindsided” by the reports that Brady and Swanepoel were dating. It is unclear if Smalls knew about the reported romance before it made headlines.
“To her, it was just the ultimate breaking of girl code,” a source told Us Weekly on October 28, days after news of Brady’s romance with Swanepoel broke. “It wasn’t even necessarily about Tom, but more about the fact that Candice was someone she considered such a close friend. Joan had openly talked to Candice about Tom and had confided in Candice about the relationship.”

Rumors of a rift between the two longtime friends began to swirl when fans realized that they both attended the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on October 15, about a week before Brady and Swanepoel’s romance was made public. Although both walked the runway at the star-studded event, they were not photographed together.
Us Weekly also reported that Smalls seemingly alluded to the rift in a comment that she seems to have deleted from a Just Jared Instagram post reporting the news.
“Two words: SUMMER HOUSE ! That’ll explain everything,” she wrote in the deleted comment. Fans believe the comment references the Bravo love triangle between Ciara Miller, Amanda Batula, and West Wilson. However, this has not been confirmed.
Smalls reportedly also made other comments in response to fans asking about the drama.
“I’m not friends with backstabbers,” she allegedly wrote in response to one comment. Another reportedly said, “There is no girl code with some people.” All of the comments have since been deleted.
Swanepoel’s rep later responded to the rumors that the two longtime friends had a falling out.
“Candice has always been exceptionally private about her personal life, with her focus remaining on raising her children,” the spokesperson said on October 28. “She and Joan share a longstanding history and a friendship that Candice will always respect.”
For his part, Brady has been silent about the feud. But considering the quote he shared on November 5 – “You are not responsible for correcting every false version of you that exists in someone else’s head” – it seems he has no plans to address the drama at this time.
