At the 2024 Gotham Awards, held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, Anderson made a statement with her natural beauty as she received the Outstanding Lead Performance award for her role in “Last Showgirl.”

Reflecting on her evolving relationship with makeup, as she wore it in the film, Anderson shared: “I mean. I love to wear makeup too sometimes. It has a time and a place. I just feel in my personal life, it just didn’t really make sense.”

When asked about her definition of beauty, the “Baywatch” star said, per Page Six, “Being brave and living your dreams. It’s never too late.”

Anderson received lots of praise for her bold decision to go makeup-free last year. In August 2023, she shared with ELLE that her perspective on beauty shifted after her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, passed away from breast cancer in 2019.

The actress explained: “[Alexis] was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup.”

She added that the change has been “freeing, fun, and a little rebellious.”

Anderson noted: “Because I noticed that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it’s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite of what everyone’s doing.”

Pamela Anderson Says Going Makeup-Free Was Not A ‘Political Statement’

Anderson has openly embraced her choice to stop putting on makeup, though she insists it wasn’t meant to send a political message.

“It wasn’t to make a political statement,” Anderson told Allure earlier this year. “I just wanted to have my little weird face sticking out of the top of those great clothes…why am I playing the game?”

Reflecting on her makeup-free moment at Paris Fashion Week, she shared a humorous story about people not noticing her barefaced.

“And the funny thing was I would come back from the shows wearing all these clothes and a big funny hat and everything, and there were all these paparazzi,” Anderson recalled.

The actress then noted that after going in one door and “changing into jeans and T-shirt and no makeup,” she was able to walk out the door and “right through the same crowd that had been chasing [her] and no one noticed.”

In her upcoming film, “The Last Showgirl,” Anderson stars as Shelley, a veteran performer navigating life after her 30-year show comes to an end.

Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this fall, the actress called the indie drama her dream project, describing it as the role she’s “been getting ready (for) my whole life.”

Anderson said of the role, “It’s the first time I ever read a good script, first of all. I never had a script given to me that was coherent.”

She added; “So I was like, I’m really wanting to do this. I’ve never felt that strongly about something.” And when director Gia Coppola offered the role, she was in: “I have nothing to lose. I’m just going to do it.”

“The Last Showgirl” is set to debut in theaters on January 10 and features a star-studded cast, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Kiernan Shipka, Brenda Song, Billie Lourd, and Dave Bautista.

In a chat with Variety, Anderson shared an intimate detail about her life ahead of receiving the Zurich’s Golden Eye Award at the Zurich Film Festival.

According to the actress, she fell into a deep depression that lasted for decades after her appearance in the iconic “Baywatch” series. She also claimed that she has little to no memory of that period in her life, with the years blurring together until her 2022 debut on Broadway.

“I look at it now and it feels like I went from ‘Baywatch’ to Broadway,” she told the outlet. “I don’t know what happened in between, it’s all a big blur. I am just happy to be here, in this moment, because I think I have had depression for a couple of decades.”

Now, it is all about the positives for Anderson, as she expressed her gratitude for being honored with the prestigious award.

She said, “I never thought I would be on stage, receiving an award like that. I just want to keep working. I am excited to do more.”
