Sofia Vergara Labeled ‘Rudest Celebrity’ Encounter By ‘Modern Family’ Actress

An actress who appeared in “Modern Family” claims Sofia Vergara was her “rudest celebrity” encounter.

According to the individual, Vergara earned that title due to her treatment of her staff and having a meltdown on the comedy show’s set over a wig-related issue.

This claim comes as Sofia Vergara continued to spark dating rumors after being spotted at a cozy NYC lunch with Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton.

During an appearance on “The Bald and the Beautiful” podcast with drag queens Trixie and Katya, actress Kelly Mantle, who guest-starred as a drag queen in the 2019 “Modern Family” episode titled “The Last Halloween,” shared her experience working with Sofía Vergara.

Mantle described the 52-year-old actress as her “rudest celebrity,” pointing to how Vergara allegedly treated her staff.

“It was not the most pleasant experience I’ve ever experienced,” Mantle admitted, per the Daily Mail. “It wasn’t toward me. It was the way that some of her staff were being treated.”

Mantle detailed an incident where Vergara reportedly refused to let the crew use bobby pins to secure a wig for a scene.

“In the episode, she’s wearing a wig, and they kept wanting to put bobby pins in it, and she kept telling them no bobby pins,” she said about the moment.

Tension reportedly grew on set when Mantle, who was tasked with placing a crown on Vergara’s head during a scene, unintentionally upset the actress.

“They yell action, and I’m supposed to put the crown on her hair,” Mantle recounted. “So I put the crown on, and then they say cut, and she’s like, ‘Watch out for the wig! You’re putting the crown on my head!'”

Mantle then jokingly responded to her, saying: “Well, girl, you should’ve used those bobby pins.”

Reflecting on the incident, Mantle admitted that Vergara might have just been having an off day.

“Maybe it was a bad day. I’m just going to say it was a bad day. Because she’s hilarious and beautiful, and talented, and gorgeous. I’m sure it was a bad day,” she said.

Vergara is rumored to be dating Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, 40, and was recently seen enjoying an intimate lunch with him in New York City.

The two were all smiles as they said their goodbyes, with the Colombian-American actress stepping into a car afterward. They had been dining with friends at Breakfast by Salt Cure, a popular spot in the West Village.

Vergara and Hamilton sat side by side at the table, engaging in lively conversation with their group. Onlookers noted that the “Griselda” star barely touched her meal, appearing completely absorbed in the conversation around her.

Vergara and Hamilton were seen smiling and chatting outside the restaurant before she stepped into an SUV and departed.

Vergara was last romantically linked to orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman, though she confirmed in October that she was single again.

The two were first seen together in October 2023 and went on several dates before the actress publicly shared that she had returned to the dating scene.

When asked about dating in New York versus Los Angeles, Vergara told Us Weekly, “I was just talking about it yesterday because now I’m single… kind of single.”

At this year’s Golden Globes, she revealed her goals for 2024 to Access Hollywood, listing “health,” “money,” and “a boyfriend—or maybe a lover.”

Saliman marked Vergara’s first known relationship following her 2023 divorce from “Magic Mike” actor Joe Manganiello. The former couple married in 2015 during the peak of her fame on “Modern Family” as Gloria Pritchett.

Before that, Vergara was married to her high school sweetheart, Joe Gonzalez, in the early 1990s, with whom she shares her 33-year-old son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara.

Between her two marriages, Vergara was in a two-year relationship with actor Nick Loeb. The couple got engaged in 2012 but called it quits in 2014.

Following their breakup, Vergara and Loeb became entangled in a lengthy legal battle over two fertilized embryos they created through in vitro fertilization, which had been cryogenically frozen.

In 2015, Loeb filed a lawsuit against Vergara seeking custody of the embryos with the intent to bring them to term, sparking a years-long court dispute.

The actor initially pursued the case in California but later moved it to Louisiana, where laws recognize embryos as individuals with legal rights.

The “Wild Card” actress ultimately prevailed in 2021 when a Los Angeles judge issued a permanent injunction preventing Loeb from using the embryos without her consent.
