Morgan Wallen is turning controversy into cash, capitalizing on his now-viral “Saturday Night Live” abrupt exit with a fresh line of merch featuring his viral catchphrase, “Get Me To God’s Country.”

The country singer’s dramatic departure sparked debate, with a lip reader even weighing in on what he may have said before disappearing.

The mystery surrounding Morgan Wallen started after his abrupt “SNL” exit and his cryptic post about “God’s Country” afterward.

Wallen is embracing the lighthearted nature of the situation, turning what could have been a scandal into a savvy business move.

The phrase originated from Wallen’s unexpected departure from “Saturday Night Live,” quickly gained traction online, and has since become a viral sensation.

The singer has released a collection of shirts and trucker hats emblazoned with the slogan,  “Get Me To God’s Country,” selling for $45 each.

TMZ reported that while the phrase stirred up a lot of buzz, it is all part of the fun now, with even “SNL” writers joining in on the joke.

Wallen’s abrupt exit from “Saturday Night Live” left fans scratching their heads, but now, the mystery behind his departure is unraveling.

After the show, Wallen was seen chatting briefly with host Mikey Madison and sharing a hug before quickly walking offstage while the rest of the cast stayed on stage.

The Blast reported that online speculation ran wild following his sudden disappearance. However, professional lip reader Nicola Hickling has now shed light on what she believes went down.

In an analysis for Slingo, Hickling confirmed that Wallen left positively, thanking the cast and crew, telling them, “Thank you all so much,” and expressing that he had “a wonderful time.”

Madison reportedly responded warmly, apparently saying, “Chatting with you was really good,” as they embraced. Meanwhile, comedian Colin Jost, seen joking on camera, was noted by Hickling as commenting on Wallen’s possible emotions, saying, “You gotta remember how he is feeling.”

Wallen’s surprising exit did not just spark online speculation; it also caught the attention of “SNL” insiders. Josh Patten, a writer for the iconic sketch show, took to social media to poke fun at the country singer’s abrupt departure.

Patten shared a photo of a Krispy Kreme truck in New York City with its back doors wide open. But it was not just the photo that raised eyebrows. Patten’s cheeky caption quoted Wallen’s now-expired Instagram Story word-for-word, “Get me to God’s country.”

Wallen originally posted the phrase after he skipped the show’s after-party, choosing instead to head straight for a private jet. Subsequently, Patten quickly clarified that he enjoys Wallen’s music. He even shared a screenshot from Apple Music showing the country star high on his 2023 playlist.

Wallen’s sudden exit from “Saturday Night Live” may have left fans buzzing, but it has not damaged his relationship with NBC. Sources close to the network revealed that there is no bad blood between the 31-year-old and the show.

NBC is reportedly open to future collaborations with Wallen, seeing his quick departure as an “awkward moment” rather than a cause for concern. Insiders clarified that no cast member or joke offended Wallen, referring to his Instagram post about heading to “God’s Country.”

Backstage was described as a low-tension atmosphere, with Wallen leaving the same way he did during rehearsals, without staying for the usual final segment.

The father-of-one’s encounter with the law occurred in January 2016 when he was arrested in Nashville for driving under the influence. The charge was later dismissed by June of that same year, but the incident was the beginning of a rocky road.

In May 2020, Wallen made headlines again, this time for a public intoxication and disorderly conduct arrest outside Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk bar in Nashville.

Reports claimed he was kicked out of the bar for causing a scene, including allegedly kicking glass objects. While the charges were ultimately dropped, the scandal raised serious questions about Wallen’s behavior.
