AfD MEP Petr Bystron visited British activist Tommy Robinson, who is currently imprisoned in Woodhill Prison. Robinson has repeatedly faced reprisals due to his documentaries critical of Islam.

    Tommy Robinson did nothing wrong.

He was unjustly imprisoned for speaking the truth about grooming gangs and criminal islamic networks.

The judges gave him a chance to repent. He was asked to delete his documentary „#Silenced“.

He didn’t. He had nothing to take back.

Bystron describes Robinson as a «journalist» and the creator of an “outstanding documentary” who was “convicted for the statements he published.” During his visit, Bystron denounced the conditions Robinson is facing, including six months in solitary confinement—treatment he described as «degrading.»

According to Bystron, Robinson is completely isolated, denied access to the gym due to the presence of “Islamists” in the same block, and subjected to humiliating procedures, such as being forced to strip after visits. Bystron also noted that Robinson is undergoing a “politically motivated trial,” even though five witnesses confirmed the accuracy of the content presented in Silenced.

Tommy Robinson is a political prisoner.

He was convicted for distributing his video Silenced, despite multiple witnesses affirming its truthfulness in court. Robinson was sent to prison because he refused to take the video down.

The documentary Silenced has reached a massive audience—170 million viewers—largely due to support from Elon Musk, who shared it on his platform and even hired lawyers to defend Robinson. Bystron highlighted this as an example of the power of truth-sharing, urging the public to watch and spread the film.

    That is true civil courage.

Despite the unjust treatment and his grueling solitary confinement, Robinson remains resolute and intends to continue fighting for freedom of speech after his release. He is fighting for the conservative cause in Europe, as the growing restrictions on freedom of expression across the continent have reached alarming proportions.

Robinson has made grooming gangs a central focus of his activism—a very real problem in the UK, documented in cities like Rotherham, where between 1997 and 2013, at least 1,400 girls were victims of sexual abuse by predominantly Pakistani gangs.

In 2022, Robinson organized a protest in Telford following another child sexual exploitation scandal, screening his documentary The Rape of Britain: Survivor Stories, which includes victim testimonies. His supporters see him as a defender of these victims, while organizations like Hope Not Hate accuse him of using such causes to promote anti-Islam rhetoric that fuels hatred and division.

Just like in the UK, dissenting and government-critical journalists are being suppressed and persecuted across the European Union. The imprisonment of blogger Shlomo and the seven-month suspended sentence given to Deutschland Kurier editor-in-chief David Bendels for a satirical post are just the latest examples from Germany.

Despite being imprisoned, Robinson has not lost his fighting spirit.

In the European Parliament, they are fighting to ensure that voices like Tommy Robinson’s are heard. They have not forgotten these people and remain committed to defending freedom of expression and depoliticizing the judiciary.
