Kelly Clarkson Reportedly ‘Feeling Lost’ As She Mourns Late Ex-Husband

Sources close to Kelly Clarkson reveal the singer is “feeling lost” as she mourns the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

The pair were married from 2013 until their 2022 divorce and were co-parenting their kids, River, 11, and Remington, nine, before the talent manager passed away following a three-year battle with cancer.

“Kelly’s life has flipped upside down with Brandon’s cancer struggles and now death,” an insider shared with the Daily Mail about the singer. “She’s been blessed with an incredible career and life, but once her marriage ended and once Brandon’s health started dwindling, it has been very rough.”

Aside from dealing with the grief that has come with Blackstock’s death, Clarkson is said to be facing the reality that she is the sole parent for her children.

According to the insider, the singer has shifted into full “mom mode,” and is also helping her kids navigate the toll of losing their father.

As to whether Clarkson will ever get back to her jovial self, as she portrays on her eponymous show, the source claimed that it may take some time before that happens.

“This is going to stick with her forever, it will be a long time for her to get back to the jovial Kelly we all know and love,” the insider noted.

In the meantime, Clarkson’s colleagues on the show recognize that she’s going through a difficult period and are doing everything possible to support her both on and off the set.

“Everyone loves Kelly. We’ve got her back. We’ll pick up the slack, we’ll do whatever she needs,” a show source told the outlet. Everyone at The Kelly Clarkson Show will wish her the absolute best.”

The insider further emphasized that Clarkson remains deeply impacted by her ex-husband’s passing, despite their separation more than two years ago.

“She never ever said a bad word about her ex, ever,” said the source, who noted Clarkson’s empathetic nature. “So even though they’re not together, I think this will affect her deeply.”

The source added that the famous singer is “an empath; she cries with people over their sadness. So this has got to be tearing her up.”

In March, Clarkson missed ten episodes of her talk show, followed by another absence the next month.

During those times, guest hosts such as Andy Cohen, Simu Liu, and Kal Penn filled in, with her time away initially attributed to personal matters.

However, the recent developments suggest Clarkson’s absences were tied to Blackstock’s declining health. Her later decision to postpone the remainder of her August residency performances to address his condition further supports this.

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she wrote on social media, per The Blast.
