Bruce Willis’ Wife Responds To ‘Off The Charts’ Criticism

The actor’s wife shared that living in separate houses is good for her kids as it would help to prepare them for what’s to come.

Bruce was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2022, and his health has steadily declined since then, as he now reportedly struggles to recognize faces. 

“The criticism and the judgment that people receive is off the charts. But I wanted to be very transparent, and I hope that it would support the next caregiver who has to make a really hard decision like the one that I had to make,” she said. 

Emma acknowledged that moving the actor away from their home was “the hardest decision for anyone to have to make.” However, as a caregiver, she knew she had to think about her children and what’s “best and safest” for them. 

The model made the decision knowing that her husband wouldn’t want his diagnosis to cloud their children’s lives. She also added that as dark as it sounds, it was a good way to prepare them for their father’s death.

“Giving and allowing the girls some space from Bruce also helps prepare them for his death,” she stated. “I know how dark and jarring that sounds, but that is the harsh reality of the world I must navigate to continue to protect our girls the best way I can,” she added. 

Being in a second home also enables Bruce to get the round-the-clock care he requires, allowing Emma to enjoy the “fleeting” time she has with him.

Emma’s statements came a few weeks after she revealed she knew she would face backlash for moving Bruce away from their primary home. However, the decision was never “really up for debate.”

As The Blast reported, Emma explained that she is comfortable with her decision because she knows her husband has the best care, which is all that matters to her. 

“His needs are met 100% of the time, as well as our two young daughters.’ So I’m not gonna take a vote on that,” she declared. 

Most of the decisions Emma made were to keep her children safe from the emotional toll Bruce’s condition brought on them.

Last month, during an interview, she spoke candidly and expressed fears that they may never recover from the trauma of seeing their father struggle.  “I don’t know if my kids will ever bounce back, but they’re learning and so am I,” she said, per The Blast.

Nevertheless, the actress said that while her children grieve and miss their father, they are “resilient.”

Before Emma opened up about her husband’s health, close sources confirmed that the “Pulp Fiction” actor’s health was deteriorating fast, as the FTD had reportedly begun to affect his behavior and language abilities. 

According to an insider, as The Blast reported, Bruce’s health was “going downhill fast,” and he was having trouble recognizing faces. 

The source noted that despite all that, he still “lights up” whenever he sees his children.
