Sydney Sweeney is expanding her brand beyond acting to launch her own automotive line featuring tools, car care products, and apparel.

A lifelong car enthusiast, the actress restored her 1969 Ford Bronco herself and later co-created a Ford workwear collection inspired by her 1965 Mustang, “Britney.”

Sydney Sweeney also recently addressed backlash over her American Eagle campaign, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,” saying she was surprised by the reaction.

Sweeney is shifting gears, literally and figuratively, as she carves a fresh lane in the automotive world.

Known for her love of vintage rides, the “Euphoria” star is now expanding her brand beyond the screen by taking steps to secure her own line of car-related products.

According to the Daily Mail, filings with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office show that Sweeney has applied to trademark her name for a collection of automotive tools and accessories. The proposed logo features two bolts intertwined in the shape of a heart.

The trademark covers an impressive range of items, from hand tools like spanners and socket sets to car care essentials such as waxes, polishes, and even air fresheners.

It also extends to apparel, including hoodies, caps, coveralls, sweatshirts, and graphic tees.

The Actress Restored A Car To Shape By Herself

Sweeney’s fascination with cars isn’t new. Back in 2021, the Emmy-nominated actress bought a 1969 red Ford Bronco and took on the challenge of restoring it herself after discovering it didn’t run properly.

“I come from a family of mechanics,” she shared at the time. “I was the only girl in the shop. A vintage Ford Bronco was my dream car. I knew I wanted to restore it myself, and I wanted to get my hands dirty, so that’s what I did.”

Sweeney added: “I hope other women see my passion for cars and want to follow their own passions too.”

To rebuild her vintage 1969 Ford Bronco, Sweeney revealed that she relied on eBay to source many of the parts needed, chronicling every step of the process on her dedicated TikTok account, @syds_garage.

In one clip, the 28-year-old showed how she swapped the car’s manual transmission for an automatic to make it a more practical daily driver. She also upgraded the suspension and brakes.

What started as a personal lockdown project during the COVID era quickly evolved into something bigger.

As she worked on restoring her Bronco, the two-time Emmy nominee realized the platform she had could help encourage more women to explore automotive culture, whether as enthusiasts or simply admirers of its aesthetic appeal.

“I really wanted to empower and support women in the space because it’s a very male-dominated industry,” she explained.

That mission led to her 2023 collaboration with Ford, where she co-created a workwear line inspired by her cherished 1965 Mustang, affectionately nicknamed “Britney.”

The Actress Reveals The Story Behind Her Vintage Mustang ‘Britney’ And Ford Collaboration

While the name “Britney” might instantly bring Britney Spears to mind, Sweeney’s beloved 1965 Mustang actually takes its name from Brittany Blue, a distinctive shade Ford debuted in the 1960s.

“I’ve always loved Mustangs,” Sweeney told WWD when discussing her latest vintage restoration. “Blue is my favorite color, so when I saw the color scheme of it, I thought it was the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen.”

A year later, the actress and car enthusiast took her partnership with Ford a step further, designing a custom Mustang giveaway for one lucky fan.

Announcing the collaboration online, she shared, “In my dreams, I can picture the perfect Mustang. And, guess what? My dream car can be yours!”

Drawing from her hands-on experience restoring her own classic ride, Sweeney emphasized the importance of details.

“After working on my vintage Mustang, I know that no detail is too small,” she said, explaining how she carefully selected the custom paint, reimagined the interior design, and added personal touches throughout the vehicle.

Meanwhile, in a new interview with GQ Magazine for its “Men of the Year” cover story, Sweeney finally addressed the controversy surrounding her collaboration with American Eagle.

The “Christy” star broke her silence on the brand’s heavily debated campaign, titled “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.”

Launched on July 23, the ad sparked widespread backlash over its wording and implications. Critics argued that the tagline’s wordplay using “jeans” as a nod to “genes” carried racially insensitive connotations and evoked ideas of genetic superiority.

Others accused the campaign of leaning into the male gaze, drawing comparisons to Brooke Shields’ infamous 1980 Calvin Klein denim ad.

When asked by GQ whether the strong public reaction caught her off guard, Sweeney responded candidly: “I did a jean ad. I mean, the reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans. I’m literally in jeans and a T-shirt every day of my life.”

Sweeney also revealed that “it was surreal” having the president and vice president speak about her jeans ad controversy,
