Sacramento Kings guard Russell Westbrook made some NBA history on Friday night when he recorded the 10,000th assist of his career, making him just the eighth player to ever reach that milestone.
Westbrook had 14 assists in the Kings’ 124-110 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
It not only put him in exclusive company as a playmaker, but it also put him into a rare two-player club that includes only him and LeBron James.
Russell Westbrook’s rare company
Westbrook’s milestone on Friday put him into the extremely rare 25,000-point, 10,000-assist club that originally only held James.
Westbrook and James are now the only two players in NBA history to reach both milestones, which is a testament to how productive Westbrook has been throughout his career as not only a scorer but also a distributor.
