“Sea-Tac Airport’s answer to overcrowding? Construction” (Dec. 21, A1) stands in stark contrast to “How climate change influenced L.A.’s sweeping fires” (Dec. 21, Nation & World) and columnist Jon Talton’s “Behind flooding, the inescapable specter of climate change” (Dec. 21, Business):
Burning aviation fuel currently contributes over 3% of man-made carbon dioxide to the global warming crisis. Some project it to contribute 6% by 2050. Yet only an estimated 10% of the world’s population has flown, even once.
A small percentage of the global population, accustomed to flying to foreign points for entertainment, contributes disproportionately to the harm from global warming. Please stop enlarging airports and please vacation closer to home.
