Al Pacino Seen For First Time Since Death Of Co-Star Robert Duvall

Al Pacino was spotted out in Los Angeles looking noticeably frail just days after the death of his longtime friend and “The Godfather” co-star Robert Duvall, and the emotional timing of the sighting has fans talking. The 85-year-old Hollywood legend was photographed arriving at a studio while dressed in his signature all-black style, clutching an iced coffee and walking alongside a friend. The public appearance came on the same day Al Pacino paid tribute to Robert Duvall, who died at age 95, marking the end of an era for one of cinema’s most iconic generations.

Pacino was seen arriving at a studio in Los Angeles on Monday, appearing thin but stylish in a long black coat layered over a T-shirt, trousers, and sneakers. See the photos here.

Later that same day, the Oscar-winning actor publicly reacted to the loss of his former co-star.

On Monday, Pacino honored Duvall with a heartfelt statement following news of his death. “It was an honor to have worked with Robert Duvall,” Pacino told Variety on Monday. “He was a born actor as they say, his connection with it, his understanding and his phenomenal gift will always be remembered. I will miss him.”

The two actors famously starred together in the legendary 1972 film “The Godfather,” which helped define both of their careers.

Duvall died Sunday at the age of 95, with his wife Luciana confirming he passed away peacefully at home.

In a statement shared on Facebook, she said:

“Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort. To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court.

For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented. In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thank you for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate the memories he leaves behind.”

Back in 2003, Duvall spoke to PEOPLE about his decades-long career, which began with his film debut as Boo Radley in 1962’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.” “It was terrific to be given that part,” he said. “I think I did okay.”

He went on to star in major projects including “True Grit” and “MASH*,” but it was “The Godfather” that became his breakthrough role. Director Francis Ford Coppola praised him at the time, saying, “Actors click into character at different times, the first week, third week. Bobby’s hot after one or two takes. That’s all he needs.”
