Anne Burrell Looked ‘Healthy’ and ‘Vivacious’ in Final Selfie

Questions continue to abound about the mysterious circumstances surrounding celebrity chef Anne Burrell‘s death.

The Food Network icon, known for her electric personality, was found dead in her Brooklyn home on Thursday, June 17.

However, heartbroken fans saw no signs the famous chef was in distress in a final post shared just days before her passing.

Just four days before her shocking death, Burrell looked so full of life in what is now her final Instagram post. The “Worst Cooks In America” host celebrated ticking a milestone off her bucket list.

I ran into @greenladyofbrooklyn in my neighborhood today!! I’m not going to lie, I have been keeping an eye out for her,” she gushed in the caption of the upload.

It featured a selfie of Burrell and the New York City personality, always dressed in head-to-toe green. The late chef continued, “I may or may not have followed her down the street for a minute. She is just lovely!!!”

She concluded the post with the hashtags “#ilovewhatido” and “#luckygirl.” Indeed, Burrell looked like she felt “lucky,” rocking her signature platinum spiky haircut with a makeup-free look.

The chef donned animal-print sunglasses and a silver necklace to complement her dark green outfit.

Fans have since camped in the comment section of the post, seeking comfort about their idol’s tragic demise.

“I’m wishing that this is just another internet hoax that got it wrong,” one heartbroken fan lamented, before raising questions about Burrell’s health:

“You are not much older than I am, you’re healthy and vivacious, and from my perspective, in the prime of your life. How can you be gone in the blink of an eye, in the space between heartbeats? It’s inconceivable!”

Another similar comment read, “She was literally just posting days ago!! How can this be??”

Highlighting how young the “Iron Chef America” alum was, this user penned, “Not Chef Anne! You were only 55.” Another added, “This is so shocking and so sad! 55 is still very young.”

Emergency services immediately pronounced her dead upon arriving on the scene.

An investigation has since been opened, but the cause of death is yet to be revealed. It is unclear whether she was alone or with family at the time of her passing.

Although the police didn’t immediately name Burrell as the deceased, online search records confirm her address as the one listed in the report.

The “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef” host is survived by her husband of almost five years, Stuart Claxton; her stepson, Javier; her mother, Marlene; and her siblings, Jane and Ben, People Magazine reports.

The TV personality’s family mourned her immeasurable loss in a poignant statement, describing her as “a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend.”

They noted that her smile lit up every room she entered. The release continued, “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

Burrell and Claxton tied the knot on October 16, 2021, in an extravagant ceremony held at her hometown. The lovebirds first met on the dating app Bumble in 2018. Two years down the line, the marketing professional popped the question to the chef.
