An Army gynecologist charged with secretly videotaping patients during exams pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.
Dr. Blaine McGraw is charged with indecent visual recording as well as conduct unbecoming of an officer, willful disobedience of a superior officer and making a false statement. The Army Office of Special Trial Counsel previously alleged there were 44 victims throughout 2025. McGraw’s patients included hundreds of service members and their spouses.
McGraw appeared before military judge Colonel Jorge Rivera at the Lawrence Williams Judicial Center on Fort Hood on Wednesday, according to NBC News affiliate KCEN of Central Texas.
According to information presented in court Wednesday, McGraw now faces nine charges and 273 specifications involving 93 alleged victims, the station reported. The Army has said the alleged conduct occurred between 2021 and 2026.
Those include 12 specifications of sexual assault, 79 specifications of attempted sexual assault, 66 specifications of indecent recording and 91 specifications of assault consummated by a battery, KCEN reported.
He was charged in December after the Army Criminal Investigation Division opened an inquiry in October following a complaint from a patient in Fort Hood, Texas. Most of the accusations are related to medical exams of female patients at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood military base, where he worked.
NBC News was first to report details of the allegations against McGraw, including an interview with a former patient who sued him after learning he had recorded “nearly the entirety of her final appointment, including both the breast and pelvic examinations, without her knowledge or consent,” her lawsuit says.
Her lawsuit alleges there are scores of additional victims and that Army leadership allowed McGraw to continue practicing for years after receiving complaints about sexual misconduct — an allegation the Army denies. She is married to an active-duty service member and sued anonymously, using the name Jane Doe, to keep her identity private.
Fort Hood officials have said they immediately suspended McGraw and opened an investigation after receiving the complaint in October. The commander at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood told NBC News in November that he had identified more than 1,400 of McGraw’s patients to inform of the investigation into him.
McGraw also worked at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii from June 2019 to June 2023. The Army notified his former patients there about the investigation and how to report any complaints, NBC News reported.
