A panic in Brazil’s financial markets has laid bare plummeting investor confidence in the fiscal policy of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, with his leftwing administration under intense pressure to fortify the public accounts of Latin America’s largest economy. The real dropped to a record low against the US dollar on Wednesday, leading to aggressive central bank interventions to support the currency, in a sell-off that also hit share prices and pushed up government borrowing costs. “Right now there’s absolute fear in the market, driven by fiscal concerns,” said Edwin Gutierrez, head of emerging market debt at asset manager Abrdn.…

According to reports, baseball legend Rickey Henderson died on Friday. He was 65-years-old.Widely considered the greatest leadoff hitter in MLB history, Henderson revolutionized the leadoff spot. He was not just a stolen-base threat; Henderson had impressive power, as his 81 career leadoff homers are the major-league record. Henderson was polarizing at times, but he backed up his talk and swagger on the diamond, where he carved his name into the record books.  Henderson was a 10-time All-Star and the 1990 AL MVP. He led the league in steals 12 times, setting a modern-day record with 130 steals in 1982. Henderson posted…

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Imagine a team so energized that every project feels like a shared victory, where ideas flow freely and people bring their best to work every day. Motivation fuels productivity, creativity and the kind of ownership that takes a project from “done”…

In fact, I think gingerbread might be my favourite biscuit – providing it has that perfect balance of crunch and chew. I like to think I know a thing or two about how to achieve that. I competed in the 2023 series of the The Great British Bake Off…

COMMENT: You are wrong. Silver did not decline during World War II. TH   ANSWER: I think you misunderstood what I said. It is not that silver declined in price because it was fixed, as you can see from this chart. However, silver declined relative to nickel, which was more critical during the war, so they replaced the 5-cent nickel with nearly pure silver. After the war, the 5 cent returned to being struck in nickel. What I said is to pay attention to the spread between silver and nickel as an indication of war. During World War II, they…
