RIYADH: Yemen’s Houthis struck an electricity distribution station in the holy city of Madinah in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi-led coalition said on Thursday (Oct 1), sparking strong condemnation from several Muslim countries. The pro-Iranian fighters, who control Sanaa and Yemen’s Red Sea coastline, have repeatedly launched drones and missiles at Saudi Arabia since the start of the kingdom’s intervention in Yemen’s civil war in 2015, although attacks on Islam’s holy cities are rare.Riyadh, which backs the internationally recognised Yemeni government, had already accused the Houthis in mid-September of carrying out a drone attack against Mecca, a claim denied by the group.Coalition…
Pointe aux Sables, Mauritius – “At one funeral, we scattered sand from Chagos into an elder’s tomb to honour his unfulfilled wish to breathe his last in his homeland,” says Olivier Bancoult of the Chagos Refugees Group. For elderly Chagossians displaced from their Indian Ocean homeland decades ago, delays to a treaty allowing their return are raising fears that they may never see the islands again. The agreement, signed by Britain and Mauritius in May 2025, would allow resettlement on islands other than Diego Garcia, which would remain a military base. But it has yet to enter into force amid opposition from…
Texas Longhorns junior Arch Manning entered the season as the No. 1 quarterback prospect for the 2027 NFL Draft (scheduled April 29-May in Washington). Now, some scouts don’t view him as the No. 2 or even No. 3 QB. Arch Manning drops in latest NFL Draft rankings ESPN’s Jordan Reid released his updated big board Thursday, listing Manning as his QB4 behind Trinidad Chambliss (Ole Miss Rebels), Darian Mensah (Miami Hurricanes) and Drew Mestemaker (Oklahoma State Cowboys). He ranks No. 17 overall in the pool of 50 players. Reid likes Manning’s combination of size (6-foot-4, 222 pounds), arm strength and mobility. However, the scout…
In June, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center declared that an El Niño had developed in the Pacific and was expected to strengthen. The agency now puts the odds of a very strong El Niño between November 2026 and January 2027 at 90%. Already, this El Niño is forecast to be one of the strongest on record, and it will continue to intensify through the rest of the year. For the Pacific Northwest, that forecast carries real consequences for our marine and freshwater ecosystems, for the coastal communities that depend on them, and especially for salmon and…
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. Key Takeaways Motion isn’t progress. Networking can feel productive, but no introduction will make up for a weak product, poor service or a lack of customer trust. Build first, and the right relationships follow. Doing great work, collaborating well and following through on specific outreach earn the trust that turns contacts into lasting relationships. Most entrepreneurs spend a lot of time thinking about networking, and it makes sense. Industry events, conferences, panels, coffee meetings and dinners can lead to customers, partners, hires and investors that would never come through a cold channel.…
