Axios’ Alex Thompson Admits the Press’ Failure in Covering Up for Biden

In an unusually candid moment that has resonated across the country, Alex Thompson, national political correspondent for Axios, acknowledged what millions of Americans had known for some time: the mainstream press, largely left-leaning, betrayed its sacred duty to report the truth by covering up President Joe Biden’s physical and mental decline. His words, spoken at a White House Correspondents’ Association event, left no doubt: the media, far from performing its oversight function, became complicit in a grand national lie.

«The decay of President Biden and the cover-up by those around him is a reminder that every White House, regardless of party, is capable of deception,» Thompson stated, making it clear that even media outlets that pride themselves on holding power to account ended up protecting political interests rather than serving the American people. But his self-criticism went even deeper: «We — myself included — lost much of this story, and some people trust us less because of it,» he admitted, acknowledging the grave crisis of trust that American journalism now faces.

For years, warnings about Biden’s obvious decline were downplayed, ridiculed, or simply ignored by mainstream media. Conservative and patriotic journalists who dared to tell the truth were attacked, censored, or branded extremists. Meanwhile, the establishment media closed ranks around a president visibly unable to fully carry out his duties, depriving the American people of the truthful information they deserved.

This complicit silence was not an isolated mistake, but a conscious betrayal of the most fundamental principles of free journalism. The consequences have been devastating: public trust in traditional media has plummeted to historic lows. Thompson himself acknowledged, «We carry part of the responsibility for the low trust in the media. Acknowledging mistakes builds trust; being defensive only erodes it further.»

Thompson’s confession confirms what President Donald Trump repeatedly warned during his administration: the mainstream media had strayed from its mission of informing the public and had instead become tools of political manipulation. Trump, with courage and clarity, denounced this media corruption before the entire country, facing a barrage of attacks from those now seeing their credibility in tatters.

The media’s complicity in hiding the truth about Biden is not simply a matter of journalistic errors; it is a direct threat to democratic transparency. By protecting a weak president and concealing reality, the mainstream media not only lied but compromised the nation’s stability and betrayed the trust placed in them by the people.

Journalism still has the opportunity to redeem itself, but that redemption will only be possible if it decisively breaks its ties with power and reclaims its commitment to the American people.

Alex Thompson, as national political correspondent for Axios, has taken the first step by publicly acknowledging this immense failure. However, rebuilding the lost trust will require a monumental effort and, above all, a return to the values that made journalism great: truth, independence, and courage.

The era of cover-ups is over. Today, under the firm leadership of President Donald Trump and with the awakening of millions of patriotic citizens, a new era of transparency, justice, and truth begins in the United States.
