For the first time in his NASCAR Cup Series career, Chase Briscoe will have the opportunity to race for a championship at Phoenix.
The fifth-year driver won Sunday’s playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway with a huge push from Stage 1 winner Ty Gibbs on the final lap that allowed him to drive into the Alabama sunset and clinch a Championship 4 berth.
Briscoe took the race lead with half-a-lap to go after Kyle Larson ran out of fuel on the backstretch.
“Ty Gibbs, just an incredible teammate there,” Briscoe told NBC Sports. “I could not have won that race without Ty. I can’t believe I won a superspeedway race.”
The win is the third for Briscoe in 2025 and the fifth of his Cup Series career. Briscoe won Stage 2 of Sunday’s race and led 16 of 193 laps.

Todd Gilliland, Ty Gibbs, Bubba Wallace and Cole Custer rounded out the top five, with Carson Hocevar, Tyler Reddick, Christopher Bell, Zane Smith and Carson Hocevar completing the top 10.
Other notable finishers include Ross Chastain in 13th, defending Cup Series champion Joey Logano in 16th, Ryan Blaney in 23rd, Denny Hamlin in 24th, William Byron — who was spun from the top five on the final lap — in 25th, Larson in 26th and Chase Elliott, who was involved in a Stage 1 crash, in 40th.
