Brooklyn Beckham’s Godfather Elton John Addresses Family Feud

The drama within the family has been brewing for months, with sources claiming the issues between the couple and their son stemmed from his marriage to Nicola Peltz. However, the renowned EGOT recipient recently used his years-long friendship with both parties to push for peace.

Sir Elton John became close friends with Sir David Beckham after bonding during the latter’s illustrious football career. He became the godfather of his pal’s two oldest sons, Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham, with Lady Victoria Beckham, making him the perfect candidate to intervene in their feud.

According to new reports, the “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” hitmaker spent quality time with Brooklyn and Peltz at the famous La Guerite beach club in the South of France. John, who has been friends with the Beckhams for over two decades, reportedly weighed in on his godson’s beef with his parents.

A source claimed John “briefly” addressed the estrangement between the couple and their son, noting he opted to play peacemaker rather than choose sides. “Elton is the showbiz equivalent of Switzerland. He’s utterly neutral in this row,” the insider claimed, per The Sun, adding:

“Elton of old may have relished in taking sides – in this case, his young godson, Brooklyn – but two years off his 80th birthday, he’s a man who has seen and done it all. He just wants everyone to be happy.”

The source stressed that John would not meddle in the feud, noting that he loved both parties and hoped they could resolve their differences as soon as possible. “He simply adores his godson, and really has a laugh with Nicola, who he thinks has a great sense of humour,” the source said.

“He wants to look after them in his role as ‘spiritual adviser’ as a godfather, it’s a role he takes seriously. Elton and David think the situation is terribly sad, and has gently suggested to all involved that life is short – to patch things up,” the informant added.

The source shared that John did not allow the feud to consume his time with Brooklyn and Peltz, noting that he treated them to the restaurant’s expensive lobster linguine at a whopping £190. Peltz seemed pleased with their lunch date as she honored the singer by using his “Cold Heart” song in a recent Instagram post.

Following reports of John’s meeting with Brooklyn and Peltz, Victoria appeared to make the first move to reconcile with her son. The outlet reported that she liked a cooking video the aspiring chef shared on Instagram, which captured him making pasta with seawater.

Victoria’s attempt to mend her bridges with Brooklyn follows reports about her upcoming Netflix documentary. The former Spice Girls member was set to have her life and career addressed on the show; however, an insider noted Brooklyn and Peltz won’t be a part of it. According to the source:

“The children hardly feature, it’s simply not a case of Brooklyn and Nicola being cut, as they weren’t in it to start with. This is very much a project focusing on Victoria’s transition from pop star to businesswoman and designer.”

Sir John’s attempt to resolve the feud within the Beckham household isn’t the first time he has publicly intervened in the famous couple’s problems. In 2004, TODAY reported the iconic pianist made waves for seemingly blaming Victoria for David’s cheating scandal with his former personal assistant, Rebecca Loos.

Loos had gone public with claims of her intimate relationship with the former England captain, leading to trouble in his marriage with Victoria. John noted that the former singer shouldn’t have prioritized her career over moving to Madrid with David, who, he argued, must have been lonely.

“I think he missed her and the boys terribly. If you live six months in a hotel room in Madrid, or anywhere, it’s going to drive you crazy. I think they should have gone together as a family,” John said.

Additionally, he stressed that the couple should have come clean about their marital problems before the situation exploded in their faces.
