    Re: “Dump the labels and listen” (Nov. 9, Opinion):

    I just wanted to say thank you for running this op-ed. The last paragraph really struck home with me.

    It sometimes helps me to recall that this is not the first major rift this country has overcome. In the last century alone, we had the Red Scare, the Vietnam War, the war in Iraq, the “hanging chads” resolution to a hotly contested election, and so many other issues that divided us. We recovered from all of them, and we’ll recover from this as well.

    It helps to keep a sense of perspective in these troubling times.
