DeAndre Hopkins finally had a chance to fulfill his goal of playing in a Super Bowl last season, and the veteran wide receiver’s new team should be a top contender as well.
Hopkins agreed to a one-year, $5 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The 32-year-old will have a chance to earn an additional $1 million in incentives.
The Tennessee Titans traded Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the deadline last season. Hopkins caught 41 passes for 437 yards and four touchdowns in 10 regular-season games with Kansas City. He had just three catches in the playoffs, though one of them was a touchdown grab in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Prior to signing with the Titans in 2023, Hopkins spent three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and seven with the Houston Texans. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl five times in his career and was one of the best wideouts in the NFL in his prime.
Hopkins had four consecutive seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards from 2017 to 2020. His 83 career touchdown catches are tied for 26th all -time in the NFL.
If Hopkins can stay healthy, he should provide Baltimore’s passing offense with the vertical threat it has been lacking. Zay Flowers had a breakout second season with the Ravens under offensive coordinator Todd Monken. Hopkins could help take some of the attention off the young wide receiver while also serving as a quality threat in the red zone.
