Can we talk about the White House Christmas decorations? It looks like First Lady Jill Biden hired a bunch of drunk circus clowns to deck the halls at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

More than 165,000 twinkling lights, 83 trees and a scale gingerbread model of the White House. This year’s theme: “Season of Peace and Light.” But some say it’s retro-carnival.

“May our nation be blessed with peace and light this holiday season,” the first lady said.

“The holidays have always held a special place in our hearts, and we’ve loved opening the doors of the People’s House wider and wider each year, continuing the spirit of goodwill and gratitude. America’s story is your story, and we hope you feel at home here,” President Joe Biden and the first lady wrote in a welcome letter to visitors in the 2024 White House Holiday Guidebook.

Online critics said Mrs. Biden’s theme was a cross between Hunger Games and Nightmare Circus. Even the Washington Post called the decorations “weird.”

There’s a giant old-school carousel in the Blue Room. It resembles a circus tent adorned with huge stuffed animals. Instead of Christmas music – Mrs. Biden opted for carnival tunes.

“Jill Biden’s Christmas decorations look like what would happen if a group of circus clowns projectile vomited all over the White House, which I guess is the perfect metaphor to sum up the last four years,” journalist Greg Price wrote on X.

The China Room is decorated with wreaths made from artisanal bread. It looks like a bodega.

At least the Biden’s kept the historic White House Nativity scene. During the Obama Administration, Barack and Michelle considered removing the Baby Jesus so that their holiday decorations would be more inclusive.

The good news is that First Lady Melania Trump will be in charge of next year’s decorations.  Expect more tasteful elegance, less Barnum & Bailey.
