Police and fire personnel attended the scene before Mann was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The incident occurred at a private indoor shooting club in the western part of Los Angeles that reportedly attracts entertainment industry clientele.

Mann Built His Career With ‘Heat,’ ‘Collateral,’ And ‘Ali’

Mann’s filmmaking career stretches back decades, with credits that include “Manhunter,” “The Last of the Mohicans,” “Ali,” and “Collateral.” His 1995 crime thriller “Heat” brought together Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, with Val Kilmer also starring.
The director, producer, and screenwriter has earned four Academy Award nominations during his career, although he has yet to take home an Oscar.
His most recent film, “Ferrari,” arrived in 2023 with Adam Driver playing Enzo Ferrari opposite Penélope Cruz.
Mann has since been working on a return to the world of “Heat,” with several major stars reportedly attached to the project.
‘Heat 2’ Has Reportedly Lined Up An All-Star Cast

The hospital visit comes as Mann develops the long-awaited follow-up to “Heat.” According to Variety last month, “Adolescence” star Stephen Graham joined a cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Adam Driver, Jason Clarke, and Odessa Young.
Character assignments have not been confirmed. Graham has been rumored to play a younger version of De Niro’s Neil McCauley, while Bale has reportedly been linked to the role of LAPD detective Vincent Hanna, originally played by Pacino.
DiCaprio has been reported as a potential choice for Chris Shiherlis, the character played by Kilmer in the original film.
Mann previously revisited the characters in his 2022 novel “Heat 2,” which he co-wrote with thriller author Meg Gardiner. The approximately 500-page book became a No. 1 New York Times bestseller and serves as the basis for the upcoming film.
Mann has written the screenplay and is set to direct, as well as produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer.
Michael Mann Previously Detailed The Weapons Training Behind ‘Heat’

Years before Saturday’s accident, Mann spoke about the extensive preparation behind the famous street shootout in “Heat.”
In a 2012 interview with the Directors Guild of America, he recalled taking over three Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department target ranges for rehearsals. His team recreated the downtown filming location, marking where cars, mailboxes, and cover would be positioned.
The cast trained over multiple days under strict safety rules. Mann said the preparation included rehearsals with live ammunition fired at fixed targets, while blanks were used when filming the scene on location. The goal was to have Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer, and Tom Sizemore handle their weapons with the confidence and skill of the experienced criminals they portrayed.
For now, no further information about his recovery was included in the report following Saturday’s accident.
