GivingTuesday—3 December this year—is an international day of generosity that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform lives and communities. During this year’s event, the organization and the IEEE Foundation encourage members to help provide the necessary financial resources for IEEE’s charitable programs to flourish.

Donors to the IEEE Foundation drive the change we see when technology and philanthropy intersect. Whether it’s igniting a passion for engineering in the next generation, bringing sustainable energy to those in need, or deploying resources to help with emergency situations, the potent combination of the IEEE’s community’s intelligence and passion cannot be denied. Every member can help drive important change with their generosity on Giving Tuesday.

    Become an active donor

This year members can double the impact of their giving. The first US $60,500 donated to the Giving Tuesday campaign will be matched by the Foundation, dollar for dollar, up to $121,000. Members may direct their donations to an IEEE or IEEE Foundation program they are passionate about. The breadth and impact of IEEE programs is inspiring. They include efforts that:

    • Illuminate the possibilities of technology to address global challenges.
    • Educate the next generation of innovators and engineers.
    • Engage a wider audience to appreciate the impact of engineering.
    • Energize innovation by celebrating excellence.
    • Help the next generation of engineersthrough educational, inspirational, and foundational programs.

    Going beyond giving

Donating is not the only way to make an impact on IEEE Giving Tuesday. Here are other ways you can help move the future forward.

    • Start your own community fundraiser by creating a personalized page on the IEEE Foundation website to benefit the program you want to support. After you create your page, you can start raising funds by sharing the link on your social media pages or with an email message to your friends, relatives, or professional network.
    • Share, like, and comment on IEEE Giving Tuesday posts on LinkedIn and Facebook leading up to and on the day of the celebration.
    • Post a #Unselfie photo—a picture of yourself accompanied by why you support IEEE’s philanthropic programs—on social media using a Giving Tuesday template to share why you support IEEE and its programs. Don’t forget to tag the IEEE Foundation and include #IEEEGivingTuesday.

For updates, check the IEEE Foundation Giving Tuesday website and follow the Foundation on LinkedIn.
