    Ferries: Increase passenger ferries | The Seattle Times

    Re: “WA’s ferry system can’t afford to go hybrid with current fleet” (Nov. 28, Opinion):

    Passenger ferries weren’t mentioned in the editorial. If we really want to reduce carbon emissions, and increase reliability, increasing passenger ferries is the way to do it.

    Washington State Ferries needs to shift from transporting cars and trucks to transporting people, and this needs to be coupled with improved public transportation connections at ferry terminals. This is less expensive for taxpayers and is the right direction for our state. We need to shift transportation planning to a greater focus on alternatives to traffic and long ferry lines.
