‘Framework’ for 49ers completing Maxx Crosby trade revealed

There continues to be no real sign that either the Las Vegas Raiders or star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby want to break up amid the NFL’s ongoing summer break.

However, some have repeatedly linked Crosby with a San Francisco 49ers team that could use an upgrade at his position. On Sunday morning, Vincent Bonsignore of The California Post shared an interesting update regarding the 49ers potentially landing Crosby at some point.

What it could cost 49ers to acquire Maxx Crosby

“Multiple league sources have told The California Post that the framework for a suitable offer would consist of a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and second-year edge rusher Mykel Williams,” Bonsignore wrote. “It’s an offer the 49ers would be wise to consider making. And situated with a league-leading $72,133,420 of cap space, they could easily absorb Crosby’s $30M base salary for 2026.”

It’s unclear how interested the 49ers would be in paying such a high price for Crosby before he plays another meaningful down of football. After all, the Baltimore Ravens backed out of a trade for Crosby in March due to supposed concerns related to the meniscus repair he underwent this past winter.

Many have assumed that Crosby will begin the upcoming season as a member of the Raiders. That said, he could be made available if Las Vegas has a losing record when the November trade deadline is closer.

According to Bonsignore, it sounds like Crosby could impress the 49ers and other would-be buyers later this summer.

Can Maxx Crosby “put all concerns to rest” about his knee before September?

“As for Crosby’s knee,” Bonsignore continued, “all signs point to him being ready to roll in training camp. In the limited work he did during OTAs and minicamp, he looked well on his way to a full recovery. And not that he needs any more reason to be motivated, the always-energetic Crosby has some scores to settle after the Ravens hung him out to dry by publicly pulling out of the trade and raising questions about his long-range viability. The 49ers have time to monitor Crosby’s health. If he returns to terrorizing Raiders’ practices during training camp, he’ll put all concerns to rest. When he does, the Raiders will be flooded with calls from interested teams.”

Crosby has suggested with his words and actions that he wants to stay put. However, one wonders if he could ultimately decide that he wants to pursue earning a Super Bowl ring with a 49ers side that could again be seen as a legitimate championship contender before January arrives.
