After serving eight and a half years in prison, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has been sharing her story and raising awareness about Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, a form of child abuse where a caregiver, often the mother, fabricates or induces illnesses in a child to gain attention and sympathy.

In Gypsy’s case, her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, allegedly convinced doctors and the public that Gypsy suffered from numerous health conditions, such as leukemia and muscular dystrophy, requiring constant care and even a wheelchair.

Now, Gypsy Rose Blanchard is inviting fans into her life and continuing her advocacy for others affected by Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy with the release of her new memoir, “My Time to Stand.”

In the upcoming memoir, Gypsy shares intimate details of her experiences, offering a deeper look at her life under her mother’s control and her journey to reclaim her independence.

“I am in love with the title of my book not only because it addresses the question I get most, but because in our pain and struggle we can find what it is that we want to stand for,” she shared in a statement to People Magazine earlier this year. “That inside our stories, if we dare to sit in the stillness of them, our purpose can be revealed. And we all have a purpose. That’s what I hope people will take away from my book.”

That’s A Wrap On Audiobook Recording Sessions

On Thursday, the ex-convict took to Instagram to share a video of herself in the recording studio, announcing that she has officially completed the audiobook version of her memoir.

“And that’s a wrap on my audiobook!” she shared. “I’m so excited to share that ‘My Time to Stand’ will be out in two months! Until then, here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come.”

Not only will the ex-convict bring awareness to Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy with her new memoir, but she will also recount her childhood memories, shedding light on the years of manipulation and abuse she endured under her mother’s control.

“As a survivor desperate to figure out ways to inspire others to find hope, it’s necessary to face inward—to question, to be introspective,” she explained when announcing her new memoir. “In processing and retelling my memories, so much more truth has been revealed to me, including the victimization of the other people in my family and community.”

Gypsy says she hopes “to engage readers by describing my journey, instead of explaining it” because by doing so, “others might see themselves in my story, too, and relate.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard Is Ready To ‘Stand With Other Victims’

The 32-year-old gained significant public attention due to her involvement in a notorious criminal case.

As previously reported by The Blast, Gypsy was raised by her mother, Dee Dee, who reportedly inflicted severe abuse and engaged in medical fraud, convincing those around her that Gypsy suffered from a range of illnesses and disabilities. This manipulation resulted in Gypsy being isolated, overmedicated, and subjected to a slew of unnecessary surgeries throughout her childhood.

In 2015, Gypsy conspired with her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to murder Dee Dee, which sparked widespread discussions about Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy.

“Only because I did the work, did my time to stand finally come,” she said after she was released from prison. “Now, I can stand with other victims as they take steps toward doing whatever work is necessary to stand for themselves. ‘My Time to Stand’ is about reclaiming my footing so others can be inspired to walk a life of purpose and meaning and build a future sturdy enough so others can stand for something, too.”

Gypsy Rose Set To Release ‘My Time To Stand’

The 32-year-old revealed to the outlet that her upcoming book will chronicle her journey toward embracing her own truth, influenced by the personal growth and self-discovery she has undergone in recent years.

“My Time to Stand” will be released on December 10, 2024.
