    BEIRUT: Hezbollah stated on Wednesday (Sep 25) it had fired a ballistic missile focusing on Israeli spy company Mossad’s headquarters close to Tel Aviv, saying that current assaults on the militant group had been deliberate there.

    It’s the first time the group has claimed a ballistic missile strike since its almost year-long battle with Israel started after Hamas carried out its Oct 7 assault.

    Earlier on Wednesday, Israel’s navy had stated it intercepted a missile fired from Lebanon after sirens sounded in Tel Aviv.

    “The Islamic Resistance launched a ‘Qader 1’ ballistic missile at 6.30am (11.30am, Singapore time) on Wednesday focusing on the Mossad headquarters within the outskirts of Tel Aviv,” Hezbollah stated in an announcement.

    “This headquarters is liable for the assassination of leaders and the explosion of pagers and wireless devices,” it added, referring to assaults final week that killed scores in Lebanon together with a high commander.

    It additionally stated the strike was carried out in assist of the folks of Gaza and “in defence of Lebanon and its folks”.

    Longtime foes Hezbollah and Israel have been locked in near-daily exchanges of cross-border fireplace since Palestinian militant group Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel on Oct 7.

    The Hamas assault sparked a warfare in Gaza that has drawn in Hezbollah and different Iran-backed militants from throughout the Center East.

    The main focus of Israel’s firepower has shifted sharply from Gaza to Lebanon in current days.
