Highway 509 expansion: ‘A new set of problems’

Re: “Northbound I-405 closed for repaving in Kirkland, and other traffic news” (June 27, Traffic Lab):

The “boon for regional truckers to skip the Southcenter area” of Insterstate 5 doesn’t seem to consider the impact to the north section of Highway 509. Traffic around and across the First Avenue Bridge already has significant congestion, especially during rush hours.

Adding more trucks and vehicles to 509 will most certainly create a new set of problems.

    Reen Payne, Burien
