Howard Stern‘s days with SiriusXM may be over, but that doesn’t mean his broadcasting career has ended!

As an on-air personality, the entertainer has cemented his name in the halls of broadcasting legends for years through various radio and TV shows. After enjoying nearly 20 years with SiriusXM, Stern reportedly hopes to team up with other streaming giants.

Howard Stern’s plans for his future are allegedly his last as the veteran broadcaster looks forward to ending his career on his terms. The reports of Stern’s new show follow claims of his eponymous radio program ending due to financial disagreements and his “woke” personality.

A source recently shed light on Stern’s plans for a new show, claiming he was excited and gearing up to “prove people wrong again” by making a splashy comeback. He first silenced critics in 2006 with the second incarnation of “The Howard Stern Show,” gaining tremendous success and numerous fans.

Unfortunately, Stern’s $500 million five-year contract with SiriusXM was nearing its end. The possible conclusion of his chapter with the streaming giant has sparked widespread speculations that the on-air personality was getting dropped for losing listeners after becoming “woke.”

The source told The Daily Mail, Stern wasn’t letting the criticisms bring him down because he believed no one could compare to his talents. “He is in a bring-it-on mind frame right now. Howard likes what he likes, and though he could be bitter on how things are going, it isn’t anything new to him,” they explained.

According to the source, Stern did not blame the possible end of his contract on “his age,” nor did he feel like his content wasn’t good enough. Instead, he believed in his value, with the source noting “he just thinks he is the best and there is a lot to learn from him rather than throwing him away.”

On that note, the source claimed Stern wasn’t leaving his future in SiriusXM’s hands and hoped to create new ties with other streaming giants.

“If the fallout continues with Sirius, he has made roads elsewhere to potentially do something with HBO or Netflix. It is not all bad if this goes bad. His story isn’t done,” they said, adding:

“He wants it to all end on his own terms. He believes he deserves that for all that he has done in the medium.”

The source claimed retirement has been on Stern’s mind for years, especially after the deaths of his father in 2022, his close pal stylist Ralph Cirella in 2023, and his longtime agent Don Buchwald in 2024. “If he signs with Sirius again or anywhere else, it will be his last contract,” the source declared.

The source claimed Stern made a backup plan to have a new show if SiriusXM did not renew his contract because “he is not going to allow anyone to be the reason for the end of his career besides himself.”

The Blast shared that his contract with the broadcasting corporation shall end in the Fall, with an insider noting, “Stern’s contract is up in the fall, and while Sirius is planning to make him an offer, they don’t intend for him to take it.”

The insider claimed the pair’s relationship was ending due to financial disagreements, claiming, “Sirius and Stern are never going to meet on the money he is going to want. It’s no longer worth the investment.” They added that the radio showrunners could no longer afford to keep Stern for other reasons.

The broadcasting corporation’s issues with Stern were reportedly linked to his controversial political stance, as he has been a longtime critic of President Donald Trump. The source hinted that Stern was getting cancelled like late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert.

Colbert lost his program shortly after mocking Paramount Global’s million-dollar settlement with the POTUS. In Stern’s case, his past comments about the politician recently resurfaced, including a September 2024 TV appearance, where he doubled down on Trump never wanting to be president.

Stern believed Trump did not want to run for president, claiming, “I knew him, he had a great life at Mar-a-Lago, he was running around town, he played golf, he had a good time.” He speculated that Trump was trying to boost the sales of his book, which coincidentally debuted during the elections.

Stern, per Wikipedia, started his broadcasting career through radio jobs while studying at Boston University. From 1976 to 1982, he worked at “WRNW” in Briarcliff Manor, “WCCC” in Hartford, “WWWW” in Detroit, and “WWDC” in Washington.

Stern joined “WNBC” in New York from 1982 until his exit in 1985, before achieving a 20-year career at “WXRK.” His morning show entered syndication in 1986 and reportedly attracted 20 million listeners in its prime. The show made a splashy comeback in 2006, when he joined SiriusXM.

Outside radio programs, Stern gained fame as a judge on “America’s Got Talent” from 2012 to 2015. Additionally, he hosted and produced several late-night television shows and entered The New York Times Best Seller list with the books “Private Parts” in 1993 and “Miss America” in 1995.

Will Howard Stern return to SiriusXM or foster new working relationships?
