Iran war: Wisdom of renewable energy

The headline “State gas prices spiking again, as war strains energy market” (March 10, A1) confirms the wisdom of switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

Why be at the mercy of an Iranian leader or Houthi rebel who chooses to close the Strait of Hormuz when you can be self-sufficient at home?

Contrary to what our president says, engineering and economics show that 100% renewables is feasible and cost-effective. It would also save thousands of lives annually in this country and save billions in health care — but that’s another story.
